Working in the engine compartment - I am getting too old for this

Here's the stbd engine and yes, I have been on the outboard side of both and yes, I've changed the impellers on both engines.

I feel your pain. I'm 6'5", 260 lbs and old as dirt, with a bad back and bad knees. I'm in the engine room of my 440 convertible at least once a week, and it's killing me. My solution, I'm selling the boat. Can't do it any more.

I understand - I tell people my ER is either going to kill me or keep me young - and the jury is still out!!

320DA isnt so bad
Now thats a lot of room. Wish I had that with the twin 6.2's on the Rinker. Would have supported al

Everyone should demand that kind of room on any boat. Why manufactures Squeeze them in to unmanageable areas for work is beyond me. I had that same dual set up on my Rinker but the bulk head was 12 inches from the serpentine system. One of the reasons I sold and went to the 270 DA. Lots of room. Easy to change out the IACs on those 6.2's!

This is exactly why I drove to the boat yesterday to do the work myself, I didn't have confidence in the marina based on my phone conversation with them. I had confidence in the mechanic who they kicked off the premises.

I'm learning a ton, which I enjoy, and it's fun fixing things, but man I'd rather be on the water.
You just picked a bad day to work on it, way too hot. We didn’t even go to marina, way too hot. Went to local bar, sat in ac drinking cold beer and watching old westerns. Too hot to be outside.

Actually the heat was manageable. My body and todays cuts, bruises, aches and pain though...

6'3" 200lbs 56 years old here. Bad knees, shoulders, ankles (rolled one 6 weeks ago), elbows, fingers, the lists goes on. I have no idea how many times I bonked my head lifting it up in the engine compartment yesterday. I should wear a helmet.

My dad owned a home inspection business. His hair was pretty thin on top. I can't tell you how many times he came home with blood running down his head from hitting it on roofing nails in the attic, or a crawl space, etc.

Ouch, Ouch

Reminds me of the boat I had before this one, I kept it in dry storage/boathouse. It stayed on the bottom on the floor, with two racks above it, steel beams. I was walking around on the foredeck, raised my head and bam, into a steel beam. It was pretty bad, I should have gone to the ER for stitches. Worse, I could not find a clean towel so I used one of my oil absorbing pads to stop the bleeding. Drove home 70 miles like that.

fellas I have gone from I can do it to a ck writer, in fact I kinda enjoy it.

My Tiara was a piece of cake to work on. You could stand up in the engine room.
