Crimpers for 12v

Been using the same T&B cutter / crimper for 40 or 45 years. Never failed me once. Match that with the Ideal strippers and crimpers for cable connectors, good to go

As an electrician, this has been the best crimper I have used.
I've made thousands of crimps with this type of
crimper.
It's by Thomas and Betts (T&B).
The thin ones don't crimp for shit.

I have had a pair of these for 30 yrs now. Best crimper that I’ve ever used.

I have the Klein version (HD actually carries them, which was a pleasant surprise). Excellent crimpers (as I'm sure the T&B are). I struggled with those thin, all-in-one versions for years when I was younger. These better crimpers make a perfect crimp every time, the first time (one squeeze) with less hand force, too.

Ha, actually have these at home also. Found them in a old mustang I bought.

Great, thanks. There goes another $150 as the one I have now need's to be used with a C-clamp, in a vise or on an anvil with a hammer.

Ha Ha, you will love it, it imprints the wire size on the connector as well, so it meets the new standards.

I second these. I grew up doing A/C work with my dad using his old Sta-Kon brand crimpers that look exactly like these. He has since passed and I still use his old Sta-Kons. They must be 50 years plus by now. They have two sizes of crimp for different connector sizes. Grainger sells them.

Funny, I respond to this thread with a crimper recommendation and now my news feed home page on my PC is populated with ads for various wire cutter/ plier/ crimpers! Gee what a coinquidink!
The republicans did that! ;-)

Another reason I continue to enjoy this site! A relatively simple question about a common tool and it elicits 30 + thoughtful and helpful responses from members of just about every skill level. Carry on:cool:

PS without the thread somehow turning snarky or political:)
Over at the Corvette Forum we would be arranging fights in a parking lot by now! You guys are just too civilized!

I'm going with "snarky" Corvtte's ugh.

I second the Klien crimpers, Blue Point makes the same thing. They have interchangable jaws for several different applications but are ratcheting and calibrated to crimp to the proper dimension.

These are my favorite as well. They are heavy duty and allow for plenty of torque but they have one other advantage. I use them to hold the connector while I insert the wire into it. You carefully start crimping down but only enough that the pliers take hold of the connector. This make the job immensely easier once you get the hang of it.
