So my engine is currently out and being rebuilt. I'm doing a lot of ticky tack things while the engine is out. Cleaning up the bilge etc..
My depth finder has never worked And I've done quite a bit of research since last year finding out that there's not really a Good way to fix it so it's better just go ahead and replace it.
I looked online at the specs and it looks like for the 1997 Sea Ray 210 I have a dead rise of 21°
I found another thread on this forum
http://www.clubsearay.com/index.php...th-lowrance-lst-3800-garmin-transducer.89461/
where somebody said they replaced there lowrance 3500 with a 2 inch thruhull Garmin (Airmar) P19/B619 transducer to a Lowrance 3800 gauge
But they had a slightly different model boat
I'm curious if anybody knows if my 1997 Sea Ray 210 also has a 2 in thruhull transducer ?
If that's the case then I wish you a little bit better knowing I can just order the Garmin (Airmar) P19/B619 transducer.
I think I'm also curious about is the current transducer wiring is going through the body harness of the boat all the way up to the gauge.
Should I just bypass that wiring or try to use that same wiring?
Does anybody know if lowrance 3800 gauge will fit into the dash where the 3500 gauge is?
And finally is this installation really as simple as removing the old transducer, cleaning up the bottom of the hull and installing the new transducer with 3M 4200 sealant?
I'm curious to know if the Garmin (Airmar) P19/B619 transducer Will work on a 21° deadrise since it says in the specs that is made for 20° dead rise?
I don't really even think that I will get much out of a new depth finder I'm really just interested in replacing the transducer because I think it may have a slight leak because my bilge always filled up with water more than I like even when the engine wasn't running and all of my exhaust, bearing and shift bellows are new. So ideally I would like to replace the transducer and reseal it just for peace of mind.
Thank you for any help or advice and apologies in advance if this is beating a dead horse with this topic.
