OFFICIAL - 450DA Owner's Thread****

This is how my docking lights look, not ideal!View attachment 128911 Was thinking of sourcing the stock recessed units if they are available but open to any ideas here? The original holes seem to be intact behind the King Starboard plates they used. Thank you!

If sealed well and no water intrusion you might just think about letting sleeping dogs lie...

Remove the docking lights and have the holes filled.

I talked to the plant manager in Palm Coast (in about Jan, 1998) where the 450DA was built. His comment was that the only wet core 450's he had repaired was due to, neglect, submerging the bow in head seas when the boat had docking lights and physical damage to the bow area.

Let's not forget, these boats are 25+ years old

Maintenance of the balsa core is important to the integrity of any vessel.

re-bedding of fittings is normal maintenance

Any prudent owner would/should address these potential issues before they can cause any core damage.

This is an unseen, unnoticed, silent problem that happens slowly.

On my 450 I have rebedded one of the 4 hatches, three to go and have rebedded/resealed all 10 portlights, three a day this past week.

Next up will be the windshield attachment screws.....

Then the engine room side vents

every snap fastener

and the rubrail

Doing these tasks CORRECTLY is no easy job, however they are important to the longevity of the deck. and the vessel itself

OK a dead horse already :)

I need to replace the cracked lid on my sump tank and add watertight bungs.

From time to time, bilge pumps and bilge pump switches have and do fail.

Can someone please tell me if this tank will overflow into the (which???) bilge compartment in the event of failure?

Otherwise, I'll need to add a back-up system to my ever-growing list of maintenance/service/repairs/upgrades.

The white tube in the fwd engine room bilge appears to go the fwd AC unit. Can anyone please confirm this as well?

BEST !

Add an 8" access port when you do, it's a game-changer.

I always listen to the drain in the sink I've just used to get that confirmation noise that the pump has kicked on.

In my design, that water stays in that compartment. One of my freshwater connectors failed in there and I had to shop vacuum it out.

so there's zero, no, none, nada overflow into any bilge in the event of a sump bilge pump failure?

You and I have different model years, so I can't state what you have. I have a pump in the sump box, I have a pump under the bed in the after stateroom (where my fresh water pumps are located) and 3 total in the E.R.

Has anyone with a 400 replace their salon air conditioner. Mine is a 12000 btu. Any advice is appreciated. I need to order it by tomorrow night. Also how do you access the duct in the aft head and cabin. This project is time critical. My son is coming home on leave and wants to go out on the boat. Thank you.

Just out of curiosity....
in the aft cabin on the starboard side, there's a shelf with a mirror. Seems like so much dead space under it??? Does anyone know what's there?
