Just an observation, but here at the Jersey shore the marinas are full of boats in the slips but darn few are being taken out for cruises, fishing etc as in years past.
Just this evening (Friday 6/17) there normally would have been a plethora of boats in the Shark River inlet positioned to watch the gorgeous sunset along with the patrons of the marina bars, but tonite I was the only one.
And the weather was perfect.
This is not just this evening's observation but it's been like this for several weeks now.
I can only surmise from some of the conversations with other boat owners is that the price of fuel has completely discouraged many from enjoying their boats.
Anybody else seeing the same?

At our marina on the Chesapeake the parking lot has been unusually empty. However most drive a couple of hours to get here and the bay is forecast to be rough this weekend so hard to say why.

Last weekend on Flynns Knoll ,Sandy Hook area beautiful, good wind and tide and maybe 20 boats on the water for a sunday

Crickets.
Could be the weather too. Weekends have been terrible.
We’re hoping to get her out for a little exercise on Monday.
Small craft warnings now.

Luckily for those of us that store for the winter with the tanks full and treated, we're sitting on cheap gas to start the season.

First fill-up will be painful!

I'm seeing a slight reduction in the number of boats out there, but tomorrow Father's Day will be a good indication. Going out in the channel on Father's Day is like the wild west

Then again it's supposed to rain here so we'll see.

I'm in the water but doing some engine things so I won't actually be going anywhere -- just down in the bilge w/ no breeze

BTW: anyone have good ideas for how to stay cool in the bilge? I have a fan but it only helps a little.

All the slips are spoken for, and there's even someone who was willing to pay the 35-foot slip rate to park their 150 montauk

I think it's more weather related where I'm at. When it's not cold as balls and raining, it's 30mph wind. It's been a real garbage spring so far. It is improving but it's mid-June. I think some folks are feeling defeated from an already short season up here.

That's possible but here on the Cheboygan River, there's been almost no traffic on the Inland Waterway to this point. This weekend is looking decent so we'll see if it picks up now. I'd wager I have enough fingers to count the boats that have passed us this year downstream from the locks.

At our dry stacked marina even with my .22 discount it’s $6.02 gal we went to lunch on the boat last week it was a $155 fish tacos. Plus my wife’s salad kinda like the $500 airplane hamburgers I’ve heard of.

I have seen way less boats on the islands than I have in the past and we have had decent weather but I heard Nantucket Boat Basin and Oak Bluffs are both sold out for Father’s Day weekend so who knows. We have a slip in Oak Bluffs so heading there this morning, will see how busy it gets.
I ran to Nantucket last weekend and although their slips are inexpensive this time of year ($150 for the night for my boat versus $500 a night in season) there were not many boats there and it cost me $750 in fuel to get there and back so.

OK I officially hate you :D
We go to OB for Father’s Day every year with 4 other boats. Need to get slip reservation when they release them back around Feb.

get a high volume squirrel cage fan - carpet drying style with a focused airstream.

Set in on the cockpit floor, with the airflow aimed into the engine room.

Constant air circulation

Sometimes I use TWO, the one on the deck, and one in the engine room blowing on me

Trust me, I'm in FL and THIS WORKS !

Pay a guy, never seen a fat boat mechanic. They get paid to sweat.

This is what I did over the winter and MM completely screwed me. Trust me I'd pay them to do this job if they'd take it ... and actually do it right!

Which reminds me: there is a 250 DA next to me. Same vintage and color scheme as yours. The owner had MM do the drive over the winter, which they did and billed her. They put it in her slip and now it won't shift in and out of gear  That's MM for ya!

That REALLY sucks, it really does. I have 3 fantastic honest mechanics, and a bunch at the marina next to mine, a reputable canvas/upholstery shop. i guess I am lucky.
Some prices for work I see on here are like WTF.
As I said in one thread To replace a coupler which requires pulling the engine and outdrive I was quoted $1600 parts and labor. Honest to god.
