Vessel view mobile retrofit

I am a developer, sorry I didn’t mention that, extremely familiar with split screen and have a newer iPad, but the VVM app does not appear to support split screen, AND it doesn’t even appear to support landscape rotation. Unless, it magically starts supporting that once you connect to a VVM module. I searched again last night, and did not find a newer version of the app. The screen shot below is native split screen, the bar in the middle allows you to change sizes of each app (1/2 and 1/2, or 2/3 and 1/3, or 1/3 and 2/3)
I have the Navionics Boating HD app, and it does not support split screen either, but you can float an app which supports split screen, like notes, or safari, but the VVM app will not float above the Navionics app on my iPad (12.9” iPad Pro).
So first question, does your Navionics app support split screen like safari and notes? If so, what version, maybe you have a different version of Navionics?

And then, definitely would like to see the 2 split together, could not get that to work at all.

Sorry for all the questions, I have wanted to do this, but just did not like the implementation of the VVM app, and keep waiting for landscape, or split screen, or both. Along with better support in the Navionics app.
Thanks for your help, I really appreciate it.

Here is what I do. You are correct, portrait only no landscape. I open VVM, then log into my navionics ONLINE not with the app. That way I can view it with safari. Pic attached. I move safari based on what info I am viewing on VVM so I can see what I want.

See above, sorry I meant to say viewing the app on safari. If you are a developer, get them to let it work on damn landscape!!!!

Ah, this makes sense! Did not know you could run Navionics via safari, thanks for that tip! Landscape mode is typically really easy, I’m betting the apps ability to customize what instruments display on the screen is making their ability to go from portrait to landscape more difficult. Also, the fact they support one to 4 engines probably does not help either, lots of testing. No excuse for Navionics not to support split screen either. Apple provides relatively easy to use tools to help you lay out your screen in each configuration.

Well finally got to run the boat for a longer time today. Analog gauges are accurate for some things and not others.

Tachometer off by ~200rpm at cruise. I thought I was cruising at 3300-3400, turns out 3500-3600. May be too high for my 5.0MPI.

Coolant temp was off by over 20deg. Sat steady at 167 on the vessel view. Analog gauge reading 190deg.

Voltage, oil pressure correct. Also now reading oil psi, GPH on my home page. Overall a very useful tool. Now if they make split screen and landscape functionality I will be happy.

I’m not buying until they have split screen and landscape working. I really want it, but just not going to pay 250$ Until they get the app updated. I check every week!

Single engine for me, not sure if you would need two units for twins. The app says it can receive data for up to 4 engines.

From what I understand, it works well with 2 engines. Still can’t wait for landscape and split screen... it’s been a great tool for me and has been a reliable monitoring system.

So I found the connector and the VV plugged into that purple connector just fine. It picked up the engine on the app, the module went solid green meaning it was connecting, and even showed the ECM serial number etc. However, it could not finish the connecting process on the app. It kept saying to “key on” when I was keyed on and/or running. I ordered the yellow terminator cap on Amazon for eight dollars, and I am hoping that is the reason. I would have called mercury, but they were already closed.
Did it work after you got the yellow resistor? Mine say can't complete need to get that resistor didnt realize I need it

Are you sure your engines are compatible? I thought smartcraft didn’t come out until the early 200’s

Are you guys still having problems with landscape mode? That works fine on my android tablets.
