Welcome to the club… What part of the country are you located in? Good luck on your search, you will definitely learn a lot about the 48 on this forum.

Great work Grant
How often do you touch it up?

Couple times a year i give it all a fresh coat.

Who leaves there AC units on in the salon when away from the boat for a few days or a week? I know many do at my marina. We have never felt comfortable doing so.

Not me... Watched my buddies 50' Caranchi sink at his dock from a fitting on the pump breaking and flooding the boat, sump pumps failed and she went down. I run a dehumidifier on the counter with a drain into the sink. I just don't see the need for the extra wear and tear on the boat HVAC system.

Been thinking about an alternative to setting the cabin units to dehumidify when not on the boat and getting a table top unit. I just don't want to have to take up needed storage with it when not in use. I may give that model a try. I found it on ebay for $115 w/free s&h.

I seem to remember that the delamination and crazing issue of the cabinet finishes was primarily due to temperature. I also leave all of the interior units operational (fans running 24/7) and set to 78F both to ensure the finishes remain good and to prevent any mold/mildew. Air flow is the key to prevent mold/mildew.

Tom I agree on the heat issue. I am happy with Sea Ray as I keep my boat all closed up blinds and shades and I have to say I can go to the boat mid-day in the Florida heat and it is not that hot in the closed cabin. The boat seems to be insulated very well shockingly.

OC, I do the same thing and have for a number of summers. I am very cautious on leaving the AC units run when we are not going to be on the boat for extended periods. Many of our dock mates do without concern. I like the fan idea for keeping air circulating so I may start doing that and see how it works out.
