Hello everyone, I'm new to sea ray but have had other boats. My question/problem is that while on the lake this past weekend everything was going great, stopped to swim in some deep water, got back in, started boat and it started up then went dead, boat would try to start but almost acting like it was out of fuel, then it would only turn over but no start, towed it in, loaded and brought home, about two hours passed from no start till at home, climbed in boat and turned on the switch and heard fuel pump run and turned switch and started right up, engine has not hesitated to start since, I don't remember if i heard the fuel pump coming on while we were float on the lake but i have since tested the relays with a relay tester that puts them under a load and they both tested good
Any ideas?

Vapor lock.

The late 90's and early 2000 mercs had a problem with vapor locking in the sundecks because it is such a small space. Merc came out with a service bulletin. Take a look at it to see if you have the second helper pump installed, if it isn't there you can install a check valve and 2nd pump. There are lots of vapor lock discussions on the board that are useful as well.

I had a 210 Sundeck back in the day with the same (vapor lock) problem. Talked to the service people and their recommendation was to let the boat idle for a few minutes before turning off the motor. If you experience the problem again, open up the engine hatch and leave it open for 10 or 15 minutes before attempting to restart. If you have a portable fan on board turn that on the engine too. If you happen to have a "winter blend" of gas in the boat, that is another culprit that causes vapor lock.
