thanks. I have the part manual. What I’m looking for is what manufacturer that sea Ray part number relates to. That’s the trick with these manuals - they are all SR part numbers. Unless I go to a marine max, I can’t order with that number.

This is probably a Taylor Made gasket, but im trying to find out which one? A google search of the SR part number only shows other boat parts manuals.

So we all have 20 year old(ish) boats and no one has had to replace the rubber gasket on the under side of the bridge hatch? I find that hard to believe. Mine is turning to dust, so I know yours has done the same - or it's doing the same now.

It’s a 1.75” D-shaped foam gasket and I’m sure it was used on many models. I don't need an exact replacement. I'll bet some savvy folks have replaced it with some sort of closed foam gasket from a marine store or a hardware store. Those of you that have replaced it... what did you replace this gasket with?

The pic below shows what I'm looking for:

Mine is still good. Did you try calling Taylor Made to see if they have anything similar?

I've looked on their web site, but wasn't able to find something. If I had a Taylor Made p/n I'd call them in a heart-beat!

I'd be surprised if you couldn't find something here.

Surprise! No, seriously, thanks. I hadn't located that site yet. I looked and the closest they have is a 1" wide D. The boat has a 1.75" wide D, but I suppose a 1" may still work...

I did locate a few other candidates: Not D-shaped, but rectangular EPDM foam strips w/ adhesive backing from both McMaster Carr and Grainger. One is 2" x 3/4" and the other is 1.5" x 3/4". I believe the OEM was 7/8" thick, so if 3/4" seems like it wouldn't provide a good seal I can also get a 1-1/2" x 1" from McM Carr. I'll scope it out further in the morning, once I get back to the boat.

Thanks again.

That was my other thought that you could put the D gasket on top of some flat gasket sealed together to get the desired/needed height.

Do you really need a great seal? Mines open 99 percent of the time and when it’s closed all I need the seal for is for a little cushion when it closes so it doesn’t clank fiberglass to fiberglass.

Sorry, mine seems to be OK so far, but certainly would be interested in knowing what you find in case the time comes.

No, I don’t need a great seal. But when we have the dogs up there we do close it. So we don’t want it rattling. Like you say, we just want enough for a soft cushion - and I want to make sure it’s thick enough to make contact between the surfaces. I doubt they are perfectly square. There are likely tolerance differences across the hatch, so the gasket has to be thick “enough” to account for that. That’s what we will learn in the AM!

So after a little analysis, here’s what I found: the OEM gasket is 7/8” thick. But a 3/4” gasket should work fine. I doubt a 20 year old gasket is still 7/8” anyway. Lol

and the OEM is 1.75” wide. An inch should work. But anything from about 1-1/2 to 2” wide will work. I think I’m going to try the 2” x 3/4” from McMaster carr. I’ll post the link to it tomorrow when I get back to the computer. in the mean time, it’s 80s and sunny on the Bay. Casting off lines!

I can't wait to get rid of our 400DB.

The seal on our bridge hatch is turning to dust too. Gets black crap everywhere when we open &/or close it.

Definitely need a good seal, ours is closed unless we go up to the bridge to run the boat, morning coffee at PIB &/or KI or the occasional sunset.

If I find a replacement that does what the original was designed to do, I'll share.

I'm trying this one: https://www.mcmaster.com/8694K55/

When I went to order on-line, shipping ($21) was 50% the cost of the foam ($42). I called them and placed the order and shipping was 1/3 less ($14). This stuff isn't lightweight at 25' so I'm Ok with that. I should have it tomorrow.

Some how the grand kids got some kind of blue stain from a bathing suit on the dining cushions. Tried soap, simple green, magic eraser’s, and a tiny bit of acetone and no luck. Any suggestions? Thanks, Greg

No idea but post in the genneral maintanence section and more eyes will see your question. Likely someone there will have your answer. Enjoy the grand kids!

Generator impeller.
Anyone know best way to get access on the 400? Started on project but gave up. Drain and remove hoses? Move the whole unit?
What brand generator do you have? I have the diesel westerbeke and mine is really an easy job.
The manufacturer would help others know your issue?
