I have a 330 Dancer with 5.7l and the question I have is on the engine temps. My starboard engine will read 160 and my port engine will read 170...it doesnt go any higher but i have a small concern on the 10 degree difference. Is this normal or is this something that needs to addressed ?

Thanks in advance

What year is your boat? How many hours? Analog or digital gauges? The thermostats, gauges and sender units typically aren't perfectly aligned with each other. You can try moving the sending units between the two engines and see if the temps follow. Ten degrees difference isn't a big deal, but, with enough swapping, you can get them to agree. Only you can answer if it's worth the effort.

10 degrees can be normal difference between the way the 2 gauges read. The gauges aren't that accurate.

On my 2000 380, on the analog gauges, port reads 162o, starboard close to 175

I added gateways and not get digital info on my phone, both are 165.2

so mine was the error in the gauges, which drove me crazy before

get the infrared heat gun as suggested above and you will be able to tell for $20-30

You can also always put your hands on the manifolds when she's up to temp. I was able to confirm my gauges we're not going nuts a couple years ago by getting down there and getting hands on. Though the differences I was seeing were far more than 10 degrees. I happened to have a t-stat stuck open...

1995 port engine has approx 125 hrs.....analog guages

The gauges are notoriously unrealiable when it comes to actual temp. gauges can easily be off by 10+ degrees. As some have said.....cheap peace of mind is an infrared temp gun aimed at the manifold to confirm you're fine. More expensive is a gateway connected to a phone or your chartplotter for actual engine performance

Which engine has the heat exchanger for your hot water heater?

My 88 sorrento with a 5.7 was reading hot last year. Put lazer heat gun on it and was running perfect at 165. Ended up being the t stat sending unit went bad. I mean it was only 33 years old and i was shocked. $20 boat bones and all fixed. I never go out without a temp gun and normaly hit the motors atleast once a week to be sure
