My air conditioner needs service. By that I mean find the leak, fix the leak and recharge the system. I have been quoted a price of about $350. Does that sound about right? Also, what kind of warranty can I expect on this type of work?

That sounds reasonable to me. I wouldn't expect to see a warranty longer than 30 days.

Is this a home unit or a marine unit? Either way it sounds like a pretty decent price though!!! These days I'm surprised it's not TWICE that!

How well do you know the company? Have you used them before? Referrals?

What if the leak is a condenser coil? Is that included?

Is this an estimate or a bid?

If its R-22 refrigerant its going to be expensive since the production has been banned. Also keep in mind that if the unit is low then the refrigerant must have gone somewhere - possibly out through a leak or two. In that case your unit will only be good for the time until your newly loaded refrigerant to leaks out.

If the leak can’t be fixed, it’s not much good to me.

This is just a number that has been given to me. Not sure if it’s good or not.

Yep! I fought that battle on a mini-split that I had in my office for server room. Had problems after 1 year and chased leaks until we decommissioned it. Leaks can be hard to find and sometime there are more than one.

When I had the problem on my boat last year and knew that it was R-22 I just installed a new unit.

Agreed… just order a new unit from Marine Air… not worth wasting money chasing a leak.
