At start, my starboard engine starts and dies. After starting again, it revs a little higher and runs great. Does it every time. Port engine fires perfectly. Any suggestions?

Stalling at idle is commonly related to IAC valves. It should be pretty easy to swap the IAC between engines to quickly test. If it is the IAC valve you can pickup one at the auto parts store or online and save on the Merc pricing - depending on the make you may still need the Merc gasket but those can be purchased locally inexpensively. Just stay away from any of the real cheap knock off ones.

Thanks Kevin. I have heard “IAC” often for various fixes. Will search for part and how to change it out.

IAC likely. Had the same problem with my 7.4MPI. Starts, stumbles dies. Starts, stumbles, dies. Starts, stumbles, recovers, stays running no problem. Swapped the IAC which took 5 minutes, havent had the problem again since

Thanks for the help. Wonder if I should try cleaning it first? Does anyone have part number for a 2000 7.4L?

My IAC doesn't look like yours. Anyone know the part number for this one. 2000 340 Sundancer 7.4 MPI. 4 leads on plug. All help appreciated. Thanks.
