Sure don’t like what I hear coming out of Texas. Hopefully the inaction is not as bad as it seems….. and here we are 2 days later and we still don’t have a timeline and reasons why

Oh, I think it is that bad. My cop brothers are being very defensive....

I'll be damned if that was my kids school and the cops didn't go in / tried to prevent me from entering...

What would your untrained ass do to save your kid or others when someone is inside with an AR?

I heard many parents obviously upset that they couldn't go inside to get their kids, but c'mon. You're not going to go inside and go all Steven Seagal on his ass and save the day.

You’d be surprised what a motivated parent can do.

You'd be surprised who is or isn't trained along with who'd be outgunned or not....

But hey, feel free to sit idle while your kids inside with an active shooter.....

Let's be clear here...

1. There are people who are trained to handle active shooters ie SWAT, etc vs the citizens in a podunk town
2. I bet 95% of those who own handguns have zero training other than target shooting... they don't know how to properly clear a room, avoid swinging guns in your path/space, the logic or tactics needed to have the upper hand on the bad guy, etc
3. Being outgunned and trained are two different scenarios... One could have more guns than the next person and have zero training. Does that make it more likely they will be successful in taking out an active shooter?
4. Please don't portray that I wouldn't care about my own kids or others if an active shooter case existed. Of course I'd anxious, upset, and devastated. I'm stating there are folks that are properly trained who would likely produce a better outcome than the average joe blow who target shoots on his farm in an active shooter case.

This conversation reminded me of a seal video I watched at one point. As these folks went through training how to clear a room, even those with experience made several mistakes that put them and their team in danger. And that's those WITH experience. Again, I stand by my comment that dealing with an active shooter is best left to those with experience and training.

Agree 100%, although I'd say 98% of those who own guns have little to no training (veterans not included in that number). I see the same folks at training classes...rarely anyone new. As I stated before, you have no idea who is trained, outgunned, etc. Only those individuals know what they are capable of.

The bottom line here (as facts begin to come out) is that the cops stood on the sidelines, ignored parents pleas to go in and save their kids, handcuffed parents (while other cops snuck in to grab their own kids).

My point being, if those that are "properly trained" are sitting on the sidelines while my kids in there - no doubt in my mind I would be going in.....

You'd think over the years such incidents have been happening that a lot would be learned and new preventative measures would be put in place with uniformity. Read this article, see how things were done in Texas...it disappoints me, especially a remark that pops up a couple times in the article, most all you will notice that remark and wonder WTF.

One thing is for certain, we wont be watching any news cycles for a while about Sussman/Clinton/Russia, Title42/Border, Baby Formula, China/Taiwan/Korea, Primary turnout, Laptops from hell, ect.

OK, I would probably agree with that one.

Yep...I had a feeling we were saying the same thing, just harder in this format vs on the dock...

Amen! It's almost like it was planned...

I keep reading tidbits about how the police where held back, apparently determining if it was a hostage vs shooter situation. I could only imagine what would have happened if someone there was armed. Yeah, they’d probably be dead but hopefully took the asshole out with them.

From the time the guy crashed the pickup until he was shot dead took 90 minutes. There was 19 LEOs in the hall out side of the room where the kids and shooter was. The commander would not beach because he was waiting on a tactical team.
All the while kids in the room is calling 911 for help. They should hang the phucking
guy.

What if several teachers at that school were armed? Unless one of them was the teacher in the very classroom the shooter did his killing, what help would/could they be.

I know well a teacher that was involved in a school shooting. He felt terrible he couldn't help, but he did what he was supposed to. He stayed with his own room full of kids, those were his to take care of. You don't know what the hell is going on, how many bad guys, their plans, where they all might be.

It's easy for the armchair Rambos, the rack your pump shotgun experts, the Morning Joes, and politicians to criticize after the fact.
