Haven't read all of this so maybe it was said but maybe we should all adopt the strict gun laws that Chicago has. Seems to be working there?

We need to find the root cause and fix that. The root cause isn't guns. Isn't social media, etc. These kids today have been brought up to not have any responsibility or accountability for anything. Everyone has a label that has given them a 'get out of jail free' card in life. These kids are being taught to do as they wish. Dress as they wish, use the restroom they wish because we are all free thinkers and all equal. Then these same people that say this then add labels. Want to identify as the opposite sex? Ok. Then they ask to be labeled, which makes them stand out as a different group but then they complain about being labeled. I could imagine this could cause psychological issues.
Additionally, with kids being given special treatment growing up they never learn how to deal with adversity. My wife has students with an IEP where their test are given 1 on 1 and are multiple choice and only 2 answers are left. Some are even given 2 chances to get the right answer with only 2 options. Wife said about 80% of the students in her school have some type of IEP and only about 10-20% actually should have one. Her friends son was the same way. Mother never had a job and grandma paid for everything. The son was the same way. Didn't want to do homework and the mother didn't want to enforce it so she went and got an IEP saying he didn't have to do any homework. How are these kids going to deal with the real world where you have to figure things out on your own?
We need to end this special treatment and let these kids start figuring things out for themselves again and work through it.
When I was in high school I'd say there were always at least 10-20 student vehicles in the parking lot with a gun in them. Some were visible in the back window. We never had issues but this was in the 80's when kids were still held accountable.

That's my opinion on what the problem is. Some might not agree. But trust me, I was bullied more than my share growing up and I never thought about killing anyone. I was always held accountable, got grounded, got detention, etc. I learned there were consequences to not following the rules and took that into adulthood with me.

Sorry for the long rant but these sad situations always turn to the 2nd amendment and that isn't the root cause. that alone tells you these politicians only care about the political side of it. As bad as they are they are smart enough to know (or have smart enough people around them) to understand root cause analysis and in no way would guns ever show up as the result at the end.
Oh, and just cause there was one shooting in a pro-gun population doesn't mean pro gun doesn't work. In fact, the shooter was stopped by someone with a gun. Just unfortunate that he wasn't stopped sooner.

Oh, and read a good one today. Everyone is asking why nobody reported him for his posts. There are pics of him dressed as a female and posts where he said he was going to shoot his grandmother then an elementary school. Why didn't anyone say anything? Someone responded saying it's this cancel culture. The kid dressed a female. Nobody wanted to report him cause cancel culture will attack you and label you as a homophobe then

I’m not reading all that

"Escalon confirmed that the gunman entered the school through an unlocked door at the school."

"Four minutes after the shooter went into the school, the police arrived, made entry into the building, and after hearing gunfire, retreated and took cover."

"About an hour later, a tactical team from U.S. Customs and Border Patrol arrived. They shot and killed the gunman. A Uvalde police officer and a sheriff’s deputy were also there."

Hopefully some jobs are lost after this.

They not only prevented parents from going into the building, but some officers went in solo and got their own kids out....

I am just a guy playing Monday morning arm chair quarterback, but really? Door unlocked, nobody confronted him, he's in there for an hour after the police retreat and an hour later they decide to go back in?
Ya we need more info…..he was shooting at cops before he went in the school

Some news reports said he was confronted by the school resource officer but no shots where exchanged. None of this makes sense. I'd take all the news reports with a skeptic's eye and wait until the truth comes out from people that would be accountable, as opposed to "unnamed sources."

Well, sees what I am reading is the truth:

"The school normally has an armed school safety officer. But when Ramos arrived on Tuesday, “there was not an officer, readily available, armed,” and the gunman entered the building ”unobstructed,” Escalon said."

"Investigators have concluded that school officer was not positioned between the school and Ramos, leaving him unable to confront the shooter before he entered the building, the law enforcement official said."

See I heard there was one cop that rotated to a number of schools near by

Some have been questioning how he the shooter got his hands on an F250 as well as how did he have the money to purchase 2 AR's, ammo, and a kevlar vest. Why did it take the officers and hour to go inside - especially when shots were heard after they arrived? Just weird.

Yeah, I have been wondering where the money came from as well, especially hearing he was picked on for being poor and worked 5 hours a day at a fast food place. He shot at two folks before going in as well. Again, easy for me to question this after the fact.

From what I read, the vest had no armor in the pockets, it was more for show. But great questions. I thought the vehicle was his grandmothers, whom he shot first in starting his rampage.
