Received Buffalo Video

Agree, absolutely anything and everything should be done to protect the children regardless of cost

Something we all can agree on! See - we can find common ground.

But seriously - point to a mass shooting that happened not in a gun free zone. They usually don't as those the commit acts like these are cowards that don't want to be confronted or caught and usually off themselves before that happens...

I think that’s a hard one that may never truly be solved. I remember kids in high school like that too… always knew something was wrong with them, but I don’t think you can just pull them out and say hey you’re missing a few wires here go get help..

Unfortunately, some people are just wired wrong and always will be

We used to have mental hospitals. Now it's just take a pill and roam the streets while video games and Hollywood glorify violence...

From a Wall St Journal article from 2007: https://www.wsj.com/articles/SB117686668935873725

In Utah, there is no "gun-free schools" exception to the licensed carry law. In K-12 schools and in universities, teachers and other adults can and do legally carry concealed guns. In Utah, there has never been a Columbine-style attack on a school. Nor has there been any of the incidents predicted by self-defense opponents -- such as a teacher drawing a gun on a disrespectful student, or a student stealing a teacher's gun.

Feel free to read the article. I know it's 15 years old. From T Jefferson: "Laws that forbid the carrying of arms . . . disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes . . . Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man."

No, you're pretty dumb if you don't realize these all happen in gun free zones, where law abiding citizens don't carry. They don't happen where people carry for a reason - the cowards don't want people who will fight / shoot back.

Better just stick to Canada bud...

There has been an attempt to arm school faculty that are trained and willing to carry to work and it has been adopted in some states. Not to politicize it..... but the liberal cities don't want it because they get triggered when they see a gun, especially on a teacher or school resource offer. The gun issue is better used to help get them behind the desk in the office they're running for!

I don't believe in gun free zones. My daughter is a fifth grade teacher in South Carolina. The school was built new 6-years ago with electronic/physical features/barriers that protect the students and faculty from exactly what happened yesterday. Some of which includes dead bolts on classroom doors, a lock down front entry/vestibule, where the visitor can not enter the second door before being interviewed by the armed Resource Officer, who is behind bullet proof glass in his adjoining office. That person could also be locked in that vestibule, should the RO want to do so. She feels very safe at work.

Not to politicize it further... I'd like to think that for the $55,000,000,000.00, that we've spent on Ukraine, those features could have be built into every school in this nation. The democrats fought the abolition of slavery 100-years ago and since then, it has also been their choice to avoid solving: mental heath issues, crime (especially black on black crime), poverty, the boarder issue, etc., because if they did.... there would not be any crises left for them to exploit for power!

Instead, they now choose to look the other way and let criminals out of jail with bail reform, continue to give people a hand out and not a hand up, by endlessly funding social programs that have been proven to hurt more than help and instead create a system of dependency, not secure the boarders from cartels, drugs and terrorists, which is a violation of what they swore to do when elected, which is to protect all of us. Now, they have begun a war on fossil fuels, free speech, right to bare arms and against voting laws that make it easier to vote and harder to cheat, indoctrinate our children, just to name a few.... all for power! Why do democrat's say they love America, but everything they do appears to show that they hate Americans?!

Will @Cdillerud or @MattB92 have a rebuttal for this?

Canadians: What are gun laws like in your Country? Serious question. You guys must hunt. Do you have guns like we do? Access? What's it like to buy a gun?

Honestly don’t know anymore. Got my license at 14 and hunted a few times, never stuck with it because I was busy with sports. Wish I did tho. I just know it is very difficult and takes a lot of time to be able to purchase a firearm.

That said, I’m pretty sure it’s near impossible to purchase an AR-15 over the counter

Even my little town has limited school access. Buzzed into a foyer, and only allowed into the office if deemed necessary to be there.
Same, I live in a little town of about 1000 people, I know every teacher personally, strict rules are to be followed when I go to pick up my grandkids.

What I’ve learned from this conversation is that you guys want everybody to carry around a gun, that is the only safe way to do it. Hey works for me, there’s always many solutions to solve a problem.

Of course a gunman isn’t going to try and shootup a non gun free zone… I know they are sick but they aren’t completely stupid.

We just have different ways of doing things. I can probably walk into my
old high school right now without a problem. Not guarded by steel walls like a prison or bulletproof glass. It might bite us in the ass one day who knows, but hopefully we are quicker to allow everybody to carry a gun to be safe and don’t have these stupid “gun free zones”

Ironically our Federal Government who can make jokes about deer in kevlar, but are for defunding the police and are against taxpayer provided public institutions protecting themselves, can find the money to hire 10,000 new IRS workers to go after said taxpayers.

edit: the other irony is, the Federal Government isn't in charge of our taxpayer provided public schools, our local law enforcement, nor can they remove our Bill of Rights.

Lol we can keep going on and on and post memes and facts that may not be true all you want

Except my meme is 100% true...

You can only buy over the counter here with a 4473 (background check). Unlike what the talking heads say, you can't buy a gun online. It has to ship to a FFL where you'd pick it up after completing a 4473...

And my meme isn’t?

How do the kids in these last 2 shootings get the AR-15’s then? Stolen or background checks not working?

What facts do we know for sure about yesterday's shooting?

Just looked it up, was an AR-15 in yesterdays shooting as well. Of course that’s just reports from shitty news stations as of now

"America is clearly doing something wrong"

When you spend your educational time being indoctinated that:

You are a victim
You are an oppressor
You should feel ashamed of your countrys history
You can be whatever sex you want to be
There are 47 genders (or whatever)
White folks are inherently racist
History was wrong, we're gonna rewrite it
It's always someone elses fault
Ending competitiveness to prevent "sad feelings"
Participation trophys
Dropping the requirements to the lowest common denominator to appease
Lowering standards
Hidden teachers adgendas
CRT
DEI
"Diversity training"
The importance of proper pronouns
Same sex, any sex restrooms

Instead of:

Solid skillsets in Math,Language, Science
Critical analysis in problem solving
Building self esteem through challenges and problem solving
Healthy competition in sports and academics
Proper "reproductive system education", not "sex education when age appropriate (jr high or high school IMHO)
Civics
Morals
Work ethics
Personal ethics
The value of time well spent
Family values
Community values
Helping others along the way
RESPECT for others

"America is clearly doing something wrong"

Yes, somethimg is wrong, but not just in America.

My educational time is represented by the second set of examples, grad in '80.

Before we talk about my interpetation of your comment, let me say this:

I was not raised in the traditional family. I was adopted at birth in a private arrangement with a young girl and my father and mother. They paid all her expenses. My mother died when I was 13 months old, no memories of her. Dad raised me by himself while he ran his business and worked two other jobs. It was no big deal for me to home by myself at 5 or 6 yrs old.
At 12 I got my first shotgun, gift from Dad. Hunted birds with my buddies and no adults. We knew the rules, our parents taught us. Dad was also a FHP officer part time, left me home at nights alone to work I-95 and west.

I started working in the orange groves and helping Dad at 12, bussed tables at Dodgertown in HS.

Moved out at 16 and finish HS. Was lazy, one of my teachers "gave" me that one point I needed to graduate although my SAT scores were in the top 1%.

Was "a loner" just a few friends and always had a dog. Spent my time in the outdoors, mostly fishing.

I had a jeep J10, old and beat up grove truck. If you were to have walked up to my truck in the high school parking lot from '78-'80 you would have noticed first that the windows were down, doors unlocked, and the gun rack in the rear window (I was somewhat of a redneck back then, it was the norm). In that gun rack was a 12G shotgun, a .22 rifle, and my fishing rod. Quite common in Vero Beach Fl back then.

We had some teacher student stuff happen too. My wrestling coach got caught with a cheerleader, one of my science teachers was dating a senior guy.

Dropped out of college four times

Met my wife in '82, married in '84 and moved to Ga with a beatup AMC concord and $100. Primarily to get away from the '80s drug scene which got caught up in pretty heavy

Stayed in ATL with new stepmom (mothers cousin of all things) had a job in 2 days. Wife made her own clothes for job interviews. Back on our own in 8 weeks, apt in Marrietta-$750/mo...I was with Rollins alarms and she worked in a fast food joint.

Started a low voltage contracting business and sold 4 yrs later. I was not savvy nor mature enough at the time to own a business at that age. It took me awhile to accept my responsibility in the companies demise. Felt better when I finally did 7yrs later.

Worked electrical construction and HVAC for a couple years and got into manufacturing for the next 35yrs or so. Started as shift electrician, ended at corporate director.

Wife started as a shipping clerk with a local manufacturer. During my 15 yrs or so of weekly travel she went to college and earned 3 degrees, psycology, business admin, and early childhood learning. She tretire from the same company as Supply Chain mgr in Jan '21 at 55.

Built or own house together (literally with our own hands) in 2000 after living in a 14x52 trailer for 11 yrs, catching up from losses.

Had our son and got into manufacturing for some 35yrs. Started as shift electrician, ended as corporate director. Self taught.

So, not typical of many I guess. Had many opportunities to F up, but somehow didn't, something else was guiding me, some moral compass perhaps. Somehow I rose above it all. At least to where I'm at, maybe not above it all yet, we'll see what "all" is.

When we had our son our entire focus was on providing him with the tools he would need for success. I was determined that I would not rely on "whatever grace saved me" to control his destiny. I wanted him to control his own destiny. And it worked.

Yes a certain % of the population is disturbed, I think a bigger portion have been poisoned by the first example above.

The very fabric of our country is being attacked daily and rigorously by bad actors across all fronts.

In our small town east of ATL we have school officers and armed teachers.

I have to be registered to get in my grandsons school or pick him up in the county next door.

All the schools have perimeter controls.

It is a sad time in many parts of our country.

I feel that we have plenty of firearm regs in place, problem is executing them.

I also feel that bad folks don't care about the regs or laws, they are going to commit thier crimes regardless laws that hinder other Americans rights.

My thoughts as I am free to think, for now.
