Just curious. I'm fixing to order a staff and flag from Defender (30" pole, 36x24 flag)
That flag seems a little big.
Somewhere there is a chart to aid in picking the right size flag asper the size of your boat
To answer your question, as JimG stated, when ever on board.

Looks like you could maybe use a longer staff but you got the flag size about right.
How large of a flag for my boat?
For aesthetically pleasing proportions, we recommend a flag that is 1" long for every 1' of boat length. The staff should be twice the length of the flag’s vertical edge. For example, a 33' boat should fly a 24" x 36" flag on a 48" flag staff. A shorter staff may be used if there is insufficient space.

I mount mine in the center aft anchor light socket. Last trip, last season it worked its way out and is in the bottom of the Mississippi. Probably trapped at lock and damn #2 by now. Thanks for the reminder, I need to order another.

I was thinking 36" staff until I was looking at the Defender website. The flag mount is about even with the transom locker handle so the top of the staff will be about 5 ft above the swim platform using the 30 in her.... What do I know... o_O

My Dad was a disabled American Veteran that joined the Navy just after Pearl Harbor. If I ever took him out for a boat ride and didn't have a flag flying he would have been truly sad.

Same for the house.
