alarm sounding after start

Mercruiser 5.0L, Bravo II, Thunderbolt V ignition
I turn the key and hear the initial high pitch sound. After starting the engine the high pitch sound continues. What am I doing wrong?
 
Right, I just drained the drive and filled with 2 quarts and I noticed the reservoir was low. do I just add to the reservoir? or do I keep pumping fluid into sterndrive.

That is the best way as it will purge most if not all of the air out.
Recheck the reservoir after each of the first couple of runs until all of the air is gone and the level stabilizes. Then check it periodically to ensure you have no leaks.
 
FYI, took of the reservoir cap and filled it from the bottom drain screw to the full line. It worked thanks for the help.

For future reference, once fluid appears at the upper plug, it takes me about 90 pumps to fill the reservoir from there.
