USCG Documentation paperwork

Even though it is unfair and would be rectified if this were a business, it is impossible to plead your case. I was never able to get a person to answer the phone. Our government is so unresponsive to taxpayers.

I was able to speak to a Coast Guard officer, she was super helpful. I called first thing in the morning and had to wait a bit. But we spoke on the phone for like 30 mins. At this point I was already six months into the paperwork process!

I'm done for 5yrs now. Next renewal on this one will be someone else's issue...

Received my new document in the mail yday. Glad I followed up!
Not a painless process, but expected worse.

I noticed the document fees just hit my card a few days ago. I submitted everything via an emailed pdf with electronic signatures. Hopefully that will be good enough for them. I also included a photograph in the pdf of the title which the seller had to sign on the front. It acts like a bill of sale. Dollar amount, addresses of buyer and seller etc. I can't imagine they wouldn't accept that versus a notarized bill of sale. Notarizing is such a waste of time and money unless you happen to know someone nearby that's a notary.
Anyone noticing a timeline after payment is accepted for either getting your documents or a request for more info? The USCG website is saying paperwork for initial requests from May 3rd are processed.

i just renewed online, and it allowed me to select $26, and just for the year. i kept waiting for the 5 year charge, but never came up.... mine expires at the end of august, i selected email for delivery, so i should have my paperwork next week....

I went with 2 years because you never know what upgrades are in our future...

Only one year possible with an online renewal. You have to jump through different hoops to go more than one year. Not very clear on the website. I understand that soon five year renewals will be the only option.

I was under the impression that 5 years was all that was allowed for this year. So I was surprised when at the end, it was the 1 year renewal

I plan to keep my boat for 5-10 years, so either works for me….

Most banks have notaries, as do many insurance agents, and they rarely charge fees if your a customer.

Will be interesting to see if they accept without a notarized bill of sale.

My doc application (change of ownership) was submitted the last week of April and I received it in the mail this week. A copy of the application and a copy of the bill of sale will work for as long as needed to get the actual doc back.

I won't be surprised if they ask for a bill of sale, but an actual title is far more solid than a bill of sale, USCG doc notarized or not. It was more because my printer/scanner crapped out a couple of weeks ago and I've been reluctant to replace it. There is so little that I find myself having to print these days. Whatever happened to our paperless society? Lol

Anyone notice a delay in delivery of your renewed documentation? Submitted my renewal in February and yet to receive. Checking their site shows that i have nothing pending. left a voicemail about a week ago and no call back as yet.

Renewed mine in Feb. and received it in two weeks or less.

Ok, called them today and stayed on hold for about 45 mins till someone picked up. Turns out my address was incorrect hence why I didn't receive. Thanks all.

My boat was documented when I bought it.
I filled out the paperwork myself and submitted it to the USCG to transfer ownership to me. Very easy to do.

Our boat was documented amd the paperwork sent to CG at point of sale. 1.5yrs later I have not recieved the new insp cert. Anyone know how to deal with this situation? Other than a blind call to the beuracracy?

TIA

Trust no one; there are many scammy type of companies

I'd put the call into the doc center and find out what they got or didn't.
