Hose from toilet to waste holding tank is leaking.

Looks like a monster job to replace hose w/ the difficult part being getting the hose through ER wall to elbow on toilet.

Hose will run thru lower berth to BR/Shower wall and I am lost on how to weave it thru that tiny little hole to match up to new pump elbow.

This episode all started with backpressure on hand pump when trying to vacate waste to holding tank.

This is my first post on this site ( have read it for 2 years ), hoping some knowledge can be shared my way....

Second hand knowledge here - but I've heard that the pro's will firmly connect the new hose to the old hose at the head end and pull it through into the engine room. Lots of lube and complaining the entire time.

That's the official process as far as I know :)

I concur. I would buy a barbed coupler to connect the new hose to the original at which ever end will allow the best ingress. Don't use hose clamps as you they will hang up and not pass through bulk heads. Use #8 flush self tapping screws 3 or 4 of them on each end of the coupler, just cut the hose off at the coupler when it is fished through. It is a chore but no special experience is needed, just patience and maybe a helper to lube, feed and push on the hose as you pull the old one out. You can spray a good heavy duty silicon lube on as much of the hose as you can access. Open as many access areas as you can because you may find Adel clamps securing the hose in the most inconvenient places and that will be the biggest challenge in my experience. Good luck. I am about to embark on a similar project this summer when I abandon my second holding tank for the master head and plumb it forward to the main holding tank in the bilge. Currently I have a holding tank under the master queen bed island and the funk is always lingering even if it is just in my head. (pun intended)

I did this several years ago, both heads. The barbed coupler method with screws and electrical tape is definitely the way to go. Not sure if the same on the 30, but hoses to both heads were not one continuous length on my boat. They each had a coupler in the middle, which made things slightly easier, especially with the ultra sharp turn the hose takes exiting the toilet down into the floor. I had two guys help me with the longer run. We each had our arms in open compartments, pushed and pulled in unison.

Yikes

This discharge hose appears to be 1 piece. I am quite sure it has some blockage also…..
I may need to buy some drinks & make a friend or 2

Its a mess!!! Any further knowledge/ideas/tricks anyone knows - please forward on!!!!

If the pros complain & struggle replacing that hose I am inbid troublelol

still searching for a resolution..

Vent is clean - new pump, still hard to push down to discharge- & of course, I still have that nasty leak!!!!

Hmmm - thinking I need a prayer & some patience !!!!

TY for reply

Be sure to remove all the tube straps or it will be an even bigger pain.
I bought a 50ft roll of sewage hose and have been replacing the hoses one at a time whenever I feel like doing a shitty job. Lol

Hmmm . Good Idea on the coupler !! I have only 1 area where the angles are really tough.... Decided to replace both Holding tank hoses..... Especially since I had to cut them off in pieces ..... These may be originals !!!! Hose from head was totally blocked ! And it had some small leakage... Stinky job so far !!!

Thanks all for responses and advice !!!

I think most things in life go better with lots of lube. Good luck!

Can be a very messy job, even when you think you've flushed the system nice and clean... it's not... I was in a boat supply store in Vineyard Haven out back searching for vacuflush parts with an employee a couple years ago, and noticed a whole shelf full of small wet dry vacuums. I asked him why they stock so many, he said the boatyard adds a small wet dry vac as a consumable on the parts list on a lot of jobs like that dealing with heads and holding tanks, because they literally throw it away after cleaning up the mess.
