420 DA Thread

So, I received the exhaust scuppers from Great Lake Skippers, which were installed on my boat when built. They were made by a now defunct company named Orcas. They are so pretty, that for $75.00 each, I'm going to replace the entire fitting rather than try to remove the flapper inserts to replace the rusty/loose ones on my boat.

I just wish I would have done this a week ago, since the boat got splashed yesterday. Although not impossible to do now, I'll probably just wait till she gets hauled at the end of this season to swap out the fittings.

The insert shown in the photos is the one I'll be returning to Marinemax that was $30.00 and has a cheap feel/appearance.
Please be sure to let us know how the replacement goes and if you can tell us the procedure you used that would be even better!

FUEL SENDING UNIT, WEMA 26" 1742760 Quit? Have spent quite a bit of time in the bilge and prior to departure my starboard fuel sending unit both on dash gauge and in Smart craft show zero. Has anyone trouble shot this before? Thanks Mike

I recently purchased and have to install that same sending unit to replace my starboard ultrasonic fuel unit which take's inaccurate readings. I was speaking to my mechanic the other day about it and was told that he has found that the float sometimes get stuck with gunk. You may want to pull it and see if that's the case.

Just this weekend I helped a friend troubleshoot a fuel gauge/sensor issue. Here is an easy to follow guide, with the caveat that because you have smartcraft (or as sbmar.com calls it smartcrap) you cant test the actual gauge. You should still be able to test the tank ground ans sender though.

Thanks, Heading down tonight to check.

Looking for a part number or the sizes of the rollers in the anchor pulpit. I have the searay numbers but can’t find where to get replacements.

You might be better off measuring them and buy them that way. I replaced them on a 44DB this way. Don’t remember where I bought them, but found them online somewhere.

The unit did fail. The new Part is manufactured by KUS The Part Number JKS02217.

I recently changed my starboard fuel tank sending unit and it is now reading the level properly. Anticipating having to swap out the port unit at some point, I tried to gain access to the top of the port fuel tank and don't know if it's under the cockpit fridge, or through the storage compartment to the right of the cockpit fridge. There is a molded shelf insert behind the compartments door which when unscrewed, can not be removed because its bigger than the opening to the compartment itself.
I tried to pull it out on an angle, but it's depth and tight fit doesn't allow it to fit through the compartment opening. Has anyone ever been able to remove this insert?

Mine must be configured a bit differently because it comes out fine. Yes that’s where the sender is

Where did you gain access for the starboard fuel sender ?
Mine indicates way too high. What unit did you replace it with? Thanks

it is in the starboard aft side cabinets, the furthest aft. there is an access plate on the side wall. you really have to get your head in to see it.

And to think some engineer in a meeting said, No Its O.K. It is possible... Just replaced the water heater. New model is 3" longer, Might just be easier to split the Deck and hull...

Well Captsteve427 I know you're currently involved in fuel sending unit but did you ever install or try to install those shiny new scuppers or are you definitely waiting till fall haul out?
