This Dumbass can't possibly believe the crap he reads from the teleprompter

What the government considers to be the middle class is within the top 10% of earners. The bottom 50% pay no taxes. The rich are within the top 1%. That’s the lie of the middle class tax cut. They can’t do it without trashing revenue. You could tax the rich at 100%, 200%, whatever, and not make much of a dent.

According to Pew research, almost half the "middle class" falls within an income level that does not pay taxes. Not sure how you figure the top 10% includes the "middle class" as the household income threshold to be in the top 10% is slightly over $200K per year.

I think you and I agree on more than you’d think, so I’m not going to argue the point. My overall point is that there’s no way to make the budget without taxing (and increasing taxes) on the middle class. The rich pay quite a bit already and taxing billionaires is a drop in the bucket. These folks in charge know that, but the taxing the rich sounds good to the public.

There sure is a way...the one that always gets the least discussion/action...some discipline in spending.

Totally agree - but that's not too likely. Cutting entitlements is the third rail of our political system. We're hellbent on propping up the Social Security ponzi scheme, enabling the welfare state, and debt forgiveness. We pay for studies to get lobster high on dope and Covid relief funds that have absolutely no relationship to the disease or its effects. Thinking the money supply is infinite, we create more out of thin air, and then wonder why inflation sits at 8.4%. To combat that self-inflicted wound, we propose to spend more money that doesn't exist on green energy to address unproven causes of global warming that we really can't change significantly. Until there's a disaster that's sobering enough for this country to really take stock of what's happening (I can't even imagine what that'd be given that we shrug off most disasters), I don't really see things changing. This country probably won't end with a bang, just a whimper.

Oh, I think we agree 100%. I wasn't trying to argue, just trying to define terms. The top 1% pay 50% of the taxes, so it is laughable when the talk about them "paying their fair share". The top 10% pays over 70% of the taxes. That leaves the remaining 30% of taxes to the next 40%. The bottom 50% pay no tax but consume the most government aid (I think that is the definition of socialism ). If the government were to tax the 1% at 100% it wouldn't be enough. That's why I think we are headed towards a "wealth tax", which is double taxation.

Some corrections...about 50% of all tax returns have no federal tax liability. They exist among all the income levels. It's incorrect to say that the 'bottom' 50% pay no income tax. If you look at both employee taxes and income taxes it is then only about 20% that pay no federal tax.

I remember when Trump did his tax changes. Who doesn't like paying less tax, but of course those changes also helped some folks go from paying little tax to none at all.

I wasn't technically talking about payroll taxes, SS and medicare, but point taken.

Believe the teleprompter?…..the guy can’t read the teleprompter…. He yelled at us today over fertilizer for farmers…..another $500M to help farmers and shelves are empty of baby formula… the guy is a total failure
Out of baby formula:eek: Will all these fake titties the gals are sporting still work for their original purpose?:D

Sign of a great leader, sometimes use the carrot other times the stick...Us poor old everyday Americans can't begin to understand the issues without Joebama explaining them to us in the "simplest terms". Reminds me of the time my notre dame educated dumbass brother in law cc'd the family in an email exchange with an attorney. He wrote to the attorney to "put your reply in the simplest possible terms, not legalize, as not everyone in the family has a notre dame education". Pretentious fuck, he has a worthless marketing degree. Anyway, back to normal programing and teleprompter reading. :D

My question... Who writes the tax changes? Sure Trump had his name on it and had some suggestions but who really writes out all the details and creates the perks?
I know Trump didn't write out all the details...

I think the biggest thing that the Trump tax cut did was effectively eliminated itemized deductions by upping the standard exemption to make them comparatively unattractive. This showed the way to a flat/less complicated tax code.

Yes, they think, and rightfully so with at least “80M voters” voting for Brandon, that the American public is indeed stupid. Just look at how many people wore masks and got jabbed and multiple times at that then quickly rolled up their masks after the jab.

“They” also could care less what others think. They’re in power and will take their pound of flesh while they’re in power.

They know they’ll get clobbered in the midterms but so what, we’ll never go back to “normal”. They take a foot then give up a few inches, over and over again until eventually we become China.

They win because well, there’s millions of stupid people.

You don’t have to look farther than this forum to find em.

dude, I’d like to think that on this site we can put aside the smaller things and all agree on owning a SeaRay, burning copious amounts of fossil fuels, and downing some suds. If there are some conflicted libs on here who do this, I’m willing to overlook their obvious mental deficiencies.
