I have a 2010 Sea Ray Sundeck 280 with a Mercruiser 8.2L Bravo 3. This alarm limits the throttle to a minimum and will not accelerate. Occasionally with shutting the engine on and off and shifting in and out of gear it will go away for a bit. Does anyone out there have any experience with this issue or a similar problem that they can give advice on?

Several things can cause that being in full guardian mode. Overheat is one of them. Scanner will tell you what your problem is

Thank you for that. I have the part on order. It's strange because it only sounds off once the engine is hot after driving for 10 or 15 minutes. Then the alarm will sound once the engine compartment is hot.
Mine didn’t happen with heat.
Once the switch failed, I got the “shift error return to port” message. This happened 3 seconds after shifting from neutral to forward. Shifting back to neutral silenced the alarm.

If the switch is the cause, As a test, shift from neutral to forward, and then disconnect the switch before the 3 seconds has passed. That will prevent the alarm from sounding, until you shift back to neutral. it may be best to have a helper for this.

I have a 2006 340 SeaRay Sundancer with twin 8.1 Mercruisers and Bravo 3 drives. My engines will not go above 1700 rpm and 2400 on the port. It had a shift switch alarm and I replaced both switches but its still in the guardian mode. Does anyone have any idea of what might still be causing this problem. No other alarms. All oil and water is fine.

It’s better to start your own thread and give complete details like:
How long you’ve owned it?
Has it always done this?
Include all maintenance and repairs you’ve done to resolve this.

I bought this last summer. So 12 months owned. It worked fine last fall when I took it off the lake. The problem started as soon as I put it in the water this summer. I replaced both shift switches and problem still there.
Changed oil in both engines.

I also replaced fuel filters in both engines.
