Ours is for 10am tomorrow. What do you more experienced fellas look for in your sea trials?

Danke,
C

Have you hired a surveyor and a mechanic to conduct the sea trial, or are you doing it in your own?

What boat, what engines?

If no surveyor, Check the following:
Idle rpms
Plane/cruise Rpm and speed
Max, WOT RPM and speed - does it meet engine specs.
Run at WOT for a couple of minutes. Check temp.
If you have an inferred thermometer check temps on risers - consistent or hot spots?
Any vibrations when running?
Reverse to check for any engine shift
Steering and general handling
Anything else you can think of.

Yes, the survey has been completed and the surveyor will be with me on the trial tomorrow morning.

Got it, nice boat. If the hull survey is done, let the surveyor do their work, and make sure that the selling broker doesn't distract the surveyor from what they are doing. The mechanic will execute the items that @Golfman25 mentoned above. The owner or an authorized representative of theirs should be operating the vessel at the direction of your surveyor. The surveyor will probably test all of the electronics while underway. This is a good opportunity to ask questions.

Thanks! I know the seller will be operating and the surveyor../surveying, so I will absolutely be asking all the questions.

Make sure they start the generator when you hit the water and let it run the entire sea trial. Check the voltage (gauge inside the cabin) a couple times throughout...
Good call. Thank you.

This year make and model had the water intrusion issue with those 7.4's, make sure it's been retrofitted. Ask questions and learn, but try to stay out of the way, let them do their job. There will be a lot going on with that many people on the boat.
