Upper Chesapeake trip: Kent Narrows, MD to Potomac River - destinations to visit along the way

Laugh because it's true or you think it's safe in Baltimore at night?

If the later, just watch the news every morning and watch the death toll rise. Not safe at night in Baltimore if your not from there, and why take the chance?

It's true, Baltimore has a bad reputation. On the other hand, I grew up going there as a kid for vacations and have friends near by. I know my way around and I've never felt in danger. But again, the place does have its moments.

Thanks for all the comments about Baltimore, I know the city, dad and his wife lived in Catonsville and we went there often, usually for dinner, an Orioles game and then church the next day. Both of my parents were actually born and raised in the city. They won't go there anymore because of the crime, and last time we went there together we didn't feel comfortable.

No love on where to stay, a marina. We are not ready to moor/anchor out yet.

You can always stay at the Yacht Basin or any of the other marinas around including the several good ones in Back Creek -- or on a mooring ball.

But overnighting at the City Docks in Ego Alley could be a one-time experience, I believe well worth it. That's not really a "no love" place for everyone... just a recognition that there can be privacy issues.

Made a slip reservation at Chestertown. 98 Cannon Restaurant is closed due to a mid-winter fire.

These are the walkable dinner options:

Bad Alfreds Distillery
Casa Carman Wine House
The Kitchen at the Imperial
The Retriever Bar and Oysters
Phat Daddy's
Watershed

Any favorites?

Thanks, unfortunately the winery doesn't seem to serve dinner. The kitchen at the imperial looks pretty nice and the reviews are good, may go there. Maybe do Phat Daddy the second night, one night fancy, one night trailer park.

Late in the conversation but ROCK HALL - instead of the Waterman's (semi-ok) thing get a bike or a trolley (if running) and go to Fords for crabs. THE BEST! it's a BYOB place so stop across the road for your fav bev if it's made with hops. Beyond crabs their breakfasts and such are awesome. Real locals place.

We haven't scheduled a trip in Annapolis yet, glad we didn't for this weekend with the weather. Chestertown is next up.

@mrsrobinson .... be careful out there after all of this rain. We were out around Mattawoman Creek yesterday and the water was wonderful. We were up in DC today and the Potomac River is all muddy with a TON of DEBRIS heading downriver. The Shenandoah is the same way. It's coming.

No BS for sure. $hit will be coming down the bay from the Susquehanna/Conowingo.
All eyes on deck.

@Jaybeaux thank you for the heads up, I recall the Potomac being real trashy with logs/debris a couple times a few years ago after lots of rain. Same for the James River when I used to boat on that. Didn't think about it working its way down to the bay, make sense.

Safe Harbor Great Oak Landing is the same as Chestertown Marina?

Safe Harbor Great Oak Landing is in Fairlee Creek. It is about a 15-20 min drive by car from Chestertown Marina to Safe Harbor Great Oak Landing. By boat is much different. You have to go back down the Chester River to the Bay and then head north.
