Slip Decorations/Modification

I'm glad our marina has rules about what can be on the dock and it isn't much more than a dock box of a certain color and size other wise the marina would look like a trailer park. During the weekend foldable picnic tables and chairs are the norm for gatherings but all need to be stored off the dock area when no one is around.
THIS, as much as I like the small plastic shed, it's not attractive and could block a view.

As much as I appreciate what folks do with their docks, and understand why, it can get out of control and look gaudy/trashy. Also please pay attention to your dock mates, they may not like all the noise and such. If I was checking out a new Marina and the available slip was next to one of these slips, I wouldn't take the slip.

And hey, be careful, I grew up in trailers/parks ;)

Man some of you guys are nuts! Do you actually use your boat?

Florida has a built in mechanism that controls stuff getting piled up on the docks. Its called hurricanes.

Spiders are not to hard to control with various sprays on the dock, lines, boat, etc. The difficult issue to control are the spiders up in the roof when the roof is 25' tall. I am in the process of learning about the nets and some friends are swearing by them. I need to find out the proper mesh size. The next best thing, that may not be 100% legal depending on your laws, is a fogger/mister. They make them with a 30' vertical fogging capability and am told they work well also.

You just do things differently on lakes. Miss the slip and big boat but loving the new adventure and new dock, which as you can see in my signature is pretty barren.
The timing of moving to a smaller boat is not bad considering fuel prices and what inflation will do to storage fees. You will feel like you got a raise.

Glad i'm not the only one who thought of these. This is our first year in a new larger marina (town marina) and after the first few times out and hunting for my slip (we are in the middle) i just decided to put these on top of the pilings. Now i'll always know where i'm aiming for ha
Until your dock mates copy what you did
