Slip Decorations/Modification

How big of an area do you have to place personal property? Do you have any overhead sun protection?
Yes it is a covered 50’ slip. There currently is not much personal space because the boat backs in right up to the main walkway on the dock. I’m working on a deck that will extend out 8’ or to the first set of vertical beams. That should give us an area of roughly 18’ wide and 10’ deep. I’ll have some better pictures of the dock/slip after this weekend.

I'm glad our marina has rules about what can be on the dock and it isn't much more than a dock box of a certain color and size other wise the marina would look like a trailer park. During the weekend foldable picnic tables and chairs are the norm for gatherings but all need to be stored off the dock area when no one is around.

Speaking of critter crap, do you get spider crap all over your boats in KY? It's big here in TX and a total PITA to clean. Most of us had spider nets installed above our slips. They helped but didn't eliminate the problem. They're easy to uninstall and take to your next slip when you move.

That's great.

No doubt that if the marina doesn't enforce certain standards there will always be people who will trash the area. Ours was controlled by a pseudo HOA with each improvement having to follow guidelines and be approved.

Oh yes, it is definitely a problem here as well. Some marinas are worse than others. Where I am now doesn’t seem to be as bad but it’s still an issue. I haven’t seen anyone putting the nets up but if the issue becomes bad enough for me I will be putting them up for sure.

Home Defense spray. I go through a couple jugs a summer and it helps tremendously! My boat - free of spiders. Next boat over looks like a haunted house.

Spray the boat, dock lines, power cords, dock itself, power pedestal...everything

Do you spray inside the boat?

I got some Boat Cleaner Pro based on some other posts I read on here saying it was really good at cleaning the spider crap. I haven’t had to try it yet on that but was unimpressed of its ability to clean up the filler cushion for the rear bench which had some mildew growth on it. I ordered some Starbrite for that to try next.
