The process starts this weekend. I will be pulling both the fridge and freezer in preparation for a Vitrifrigo set to to be installed the following weekend. Any tips on getting the old ones out? The fridge is shot, but the freezer still still works fine.
Any recommendations are appreciated

Keith I don't have any recommendations, but if you could take pics with your phone of the R&R so others can see how you did each step that would be great for the site. Cheers and good luck.

Did you get your Vitrifrigo units?
Mine were supposed to be delivered last month and still no news on where they are. I ordered them in Jan.

When I pulled my subzero's out I needed to remove the wooden "floor insert" in order to gain enough clearance. The flooring that you see, is attached to a piece of plywood subflooring that is screwed down (with many screws) under the carpet. The staples that held the carpet down were fairly obvious and I pulled them out with needle nose pliers. After pulling the edge of the carpet up the screws were very obvious. Also my subflooring was glued down to the fiberglass with silicone adhesive. Some people choose to remove the holder for the sink / garbage chute cover. If you choose this route, you may not need to pull up the flooring.

Yep. I got the second one delivered about four weeks ago. I ordered them in December or early January. The first unit came pretty quick, but was damaged (trim pieces). Vitrifrigo sent new trim from Italy. I’m not making it down this weekend to pull the old ones out. It looks like Tuesday will be the day. I’ll keep everyone posted.

You are lucky - weird one for me - I called end of this month (two days ago) and they said delayed until early June. They said the end of April when I called end of March. When I ordered early Jan they said end of Feb. The boat is going to the Bahamas late May..... So, yesterday I'm resolved to get the Sub Zero unit repaired or somehow cobbed together to get us through the trip mid May. I told the supplier that I couldn't work with the delays and needed to work other options. The next day (yesterday) they notified me the units would be available today, Friday!
Go figure...

Does anyone know how to silence the Sea Ray Annunciator panel alarm? It is non stop ringing and I have turned the battery switches off, tried all kinds of things and it wont go off. Dont mind spending another night on the boat but I would like to solve the problem.

Thanks,
Vince

It's probably too late to save your weekend but the main panel is on the bulkhead that divides the engine room from the lazarette (port side just forward of the batteries). Disconnect the coax cable. The Sea Ray Systems Monitor is a finicky and not well supported piece of gear. It does provide a needed function. It is (obviously) supposed to alert you to dangerous situations (such as flooding). Mine doesn't work and I could have used it one night while staying onboard when I was connected to dock water and one of my Seatech / Aqualock fittings gave up. Needless to say I was thankful my bilge pumps were up to the challenge.

Parts are either difficult to find or non-existent and also eye wateringly expensive for what you get.

Check out this thread from one of our active contributors (ttmott responding to Keith's thread above) solution for a replacement system that provides even more information and alerts:http://www.clubsearay.com/index.php...nd-improve-the-sea-ray-systems-monitor.91270/

Or on your Main DC Braker Panel turn the circuit breaker "Systems Monitor" off. But, regardless, you should get the system fixed; its important.

Thanks for the breaker tip and the coaxial cable tip. I actually broke the power connection to the panel, the sound went away, I reconnected it and it worked normal again. What is causing it to go off I think is a stuck float switch in the forward bilge which must be replace ASAP. And I agree that it is an important part of the boats pulse so to speak. I don't want to do without even though it was not designed well.

There is a ton of money to be made for someone to make a replacement that gives additional useful information with some historical retrieval of the alerts like my Cummins monitors do. Think about how many of those things are out there (gas & diesel) partially or not working or people not trusting them. Sounds like a good business venture to me (with the exception of liability insurance).

I was able to make the off-shore fishing trip after my mechanic came and took a look at it and we both agreed on the path forward of replacing the float switch. A couple of us took turns going down in the forward bilge every 45 minutes or so just to check for water (which was bone dry), but I wanted to be absolutely sure when we were well off the gulf coast.

Appreciate the input as always!

Vince

I am full of questions lately. Does anyone know where the shutoff is to the water supply to the washer/dryer? I have a damp carpet right under the washer/dryer and want to do some troubleshooting. I figured I would start by shutting down the water supply. I didn't want to go down there guessing and twisting a valve and get it wrong.

Thanks,
Vince

I don't think there is a ball valve on the washing machine, but hopefully others who have removed it can give more advice. I think my water line just goes right to it.

There are shutoffs in line just before the washer under the bunk. Just follow the water lines under there and you'll see them.

Going back to the Sea Ray Systems Monitor Panel, is there a way to add a second alarm in the lower level so we can hear it downstairs? I am thinking of a common place where I could hear it at night when I am sleeping in one of the staterooms.

My hearing isn't the greatest as I was a traveling musician for many years and my ear's have taken a beating over time. I cannot hear the bridge alarm when I am downstairs which concerns me, especially after hearing Seadawg's comment about losing an AquaLock fitting and dumping water into the bilge.

I would think this has been discussed before, but the key words I entered in a search did not come up with much. I would imagine "ttmott's" route would get me there, but that is a major and pricey project (which I will eventually get to). I welcome any suggestions, comments or links.

Thanks,
Vince

I finally got around to installing the Vitrifrigo fridge and freezer set on the boat this weekend. I had removed the old set a couple weeks ago and was able to line up some friends for the install.

I will upload pics. The old cabinet doors will not be reused. The tray for the sink cover will not be used either since it would have taken a lot of millwork to make the accessible.

The first thing I did was paint some boards black prior to going to the boat, which is two hours south of me. The inside of the cabinets are black so I wanted a match. I have an enclosed trailer and loaded it up with saws, tools, wood, cords, more tools, saw horses for a work bench, and the new appliances. It worked well for a “shop” at the lake.

It’s tough to explain the process so I’ll be as brief as I can. The center support board needs to stay or the counter will sag. The freezer/fridge combo needs to go in first and on the right side of the set. There is an access panel to the engine room behind the right side unit that will allow the drain line to be routed to the bilge. You will have to get behind the unit to silicone the newly drilled hole for the drain line after sliding it in place or you will get engine fumes in the cabin.

For he frame that needs built for the set: I added (screwed) a 1x2 on both the right, left, and top of the existing cabinet…boxing it in for the trim piece to screw too. The pieces lined up with the front edge of the center support. The right and left sides were screwed flat against the support piece and inside of the cabinet. The top piece was screwed with the wide part showing instead of flat. A test fit was very tight so I removed the left 1x2 and planed it down a little, which worked perfect. The unit slid right in but sat low. I added an inch of wood under the unit and it sat at the right height I wanted. The units do not have adjustable feet so a platform needs to be built.

The second unit was more of the same. I also had to plane down the newly built frame to make that unit fit.

It took three of us about five hours. I could do it again in two or three after figuring the process out. I love the stainless look and super happy with the results. If you are going to do this swap, feel free to call me and I can try to be more descriptive.

I have alarms both at the helm and in the solon. Alarms are part of the NMEA 2000 network. Anything that changes state in the system and you would like to know about can be alarmed; things like bilge pumps, generator shutting down, anchor drag, low oil pressure, high coolant temperature, low or high tank levels, etc. But, you are right the Maretron equipment (even their alarms) is a bit on the pricey side however, the multi-uses are extensive which offsets the expense. Here is the NMEA system on my boat; you can see the Maretron ALM100 alarms -
