Can the plane take off?

I am (or at least was in previous career) a scientist:), although not of the rocket surgery variety:oops:, and I HIGHLY doubt I’m actually correct.:D

Just seriously disagree with couple points/assumptions that jmauld makes.:p:p:p
Okay, if you take a toy car and set it on a treadmill, can you push it forward with your hand? Does the speed of the treadmill effect your ability to push the toy car forward?

Yes. It can be pushed forward.

If toy car is pushed forward, then
Wheel speed not the same as treadmill.

Not the same conditions of OP.

Even if the treadmill matched the wheel speed of the car, how could it possibly stop you from pushing it forward?

Yes. It can be pushed forward.

Original conditions are actually impossible. That's not the discussion though.

The original statement clearly says the wheels are moving.

U know this whole thing is making me dizzy, gonna pour me a 50/50 and watch gold rush as long as Todd Huffman not on there.
Funny. I took you as more of a Moonshiners fan…. Sir.

This is like some of the discussions I've overheard in bars between two inebriated patrons that were inflicted with alcohol induced reverse intelligence.

Has anyone calculated the aggregate time wasted on contemplating this puzzle? Now that would be a worthwhile endeavor. I am not saying that there is no value in entertaining ourselves with this conversation mind you since most of you can't use your boats yet.
Cheers

I’m arguing from the boat. My 2nd and 3rd favorite activities.
