Clearly my boat has been in storage far too long. I have been to it several times over the winter months - replacing strataglass panels, painting the bottom, refinishing swim platform wood inserts, etc.

Two weeks to go for launch!

The one thing I am thinking about right now....firing up the icemaker. Of all the things I could think about....I would love to open that door and grab some ice for my glass. Of course there is music going in the background....no snow on the ground...get to wear shorts again...

This has been a long winter.

Ok...back to reality and looking out at all the ground and trees covered in fresh snow today...

If it makes you feel any better, here in the Chesapeake I was able to reach into my icemaker and complete an Orange Crush or two or three ...

But it has been a long winter and it still isn't giving up the ghost, in the 40's all day long today and rain, thank god no snow.

1 day. 70s by Friday. Grass cut first time today, all mechanical prep done on boat, wax Saturday, launch next week.
Glad we are down here.

Funny you mentioned ice maker. I have never liked or understood them on a boat. My last 3 boats had them and I never used them, except to hold a bag of ice.

We were on the boat this weekend for the first time. We went to the local liquor store to stock the boat up and I thought it would be cool to have some ice and a bottle of wine in the little holder that sits behind the helm seat, to celebrate the new to us boat. Then I thought crap, we don't have an ice maker. So I suggested we buy a 7lb bag of ice. Frugal GF talked me out of it plus I'd just throw the remainder away.

First time I wish I had an icemaker though.

Our ice maker wasn't working 15 years ago when we bought the boat and that was my first priority at the time was to get it working, you can't have a shaken dirty vodka martini without ice onboard.

You need to plumb the water for the icemaker(s) (I have two) separately with a good filter. I have the whirlpool twist on multistage filter(s). Perfectly clean ice and very safe to drink. I could not use the boat the way I do without one. Orange crushes take a lot of ice. :D

I think if you keep your water system maintained, you are fine.
No sea monkeys in my ice. Plus the fact I can top off coolers with it is nice and free I might add
