So a few years ago I was coming back from Greenport and was going through Shinnecock Canal... The lock was open but the lights were Red... So saw the Green lights and went though that way... Does anyone know the width of the other side of the lock... The water was running strong and its looked really Tight going that way...

It looked really Tight lol but we made it... I have now a 340 with a 12 beam

Call Shinecock canal control tower ( 631-852-8299 ) they will be able to tell you, Also you can ask them the time when it is open and closed so you can plain when to go though it.
I always try to go though it when the flood gates are closed then you get lock in the main gate.
 
Spark, can you reach them on VHF? Our locks out here always monitor that. It's their main way of communicating.

Thank you... Ill def call I just dont really want to bump off one of those walls coming though... I had to pick it up a little because of the swells running though there to matain control...
