420/44 DB Owners Club

The charts say that the 44 lb plow should be right in the middle of the range for my 51 footer. It will be interesting to see if folks tend to use larger anchors that what the factory installed.

I went to a 44lb Rocna from my 33lb plow. Very happy with the setup. I know others have gone to the 55 bit I wanted to go up a size and ensure that it would fit without any mods. Also added 200’ of chain.

The 55 Rocna will fit the bow roller. Had one, loved it. Currently using 72 Rocna! (got a deal I couldn’t refuse) Had to grind just a bit to fit under the hoop.

I cannot believe Sea Ray would put a 35 lb anchor on these boats. Mark replaced the 35 lb with a beautiful fully polished 15 kg (33lb) anchor.

44 lb hits the charts about right for the boat. I am thinking a 55 would be better...I have had my anchor drag on the 380 and it was not fun.

I also am going to add some longer chain...that should help too.

We had the 35# on a 44DB with all chain and never an issue…have one now on a 420DA and just added all chain….no issues.

Last year I installed the 44 rocna vulcan.
The other day I picked up 200 ft chain with 100 ft line.
The mantus swivel should be in of Friday then I’ll put it all together on Saturday. I think I’ll sleep better this summer.

Hey guys I finally had a chance to start making black vinyl vents replacements. I will be ordering my set thru local shop this Friday. Let me know if you are interested in a set. Digitalizing it was $100 and Shop is asking $130 a set (6 high quality vinyl stickers), If you are interested please DM me.

Have you thought about making them out of black plexiglass like the 52DB &56DB

Does anyone know what brand and what color bilge paint Sea Ray used in the 420? It doesn’t look quite white or gray. I’d like to touch up a few spots.

I've been wanting to do this as well. its sort of a tan beige?

The bilge is not painted it is gelcoat. Bilge oyster. Spectrum Colors can make it. To use this product the surface needs to be prepared by sanding and cleaning.

The wood looks to be regular paint then?

Has anyone painted their bilge? I have a couple of bare spots and want to touch them up. Looking for color and type of paint. I thought I remember seeing something about Spectrum paint, but was hoping to do something local. Mine seems to be an egg shell color. Thanks!

Becnme said it was Spectrum Gelcoat Bilge Oyster, a few posts ago. I’m not sure what would be a good alternative paint. If you try something and like it, let us know.
