I started at UPS and moved up into supervision. Then left and got into sales. Moved into selling industrial cutting tools for metalworking and specialized in production thread cutting (tapping) and gaging. Now after 35 years in the industry, I am the National Sales Manager of a cutting tool manufacturer that has a focus on special taps and drills designed for specific applications.

I also design, program and operate concert type lighting systems in large church applications.
We use Emuge thread mills like it’s our job. Do you have anything better ?

Wow …. So what has really changed in 39 years?
The parts have gotten a lot smaller and everything we sold in the 70’s and 80’s had leads. Today 90% of what we sell is surface mount like the tiny resistor and ceramics capacitor chips in a handheld VHF.
There has also been a tremendous change in the way we do business. In the beginning we worked with manufacturers in Japan and Taiwan and gave them a market in N.A. under our brand. These days the internet has opened up the market to anyone with a website any where in the world so we compete with most of our suppliers.

Three years as a Merc mechanic
Five semester course, earning my A&P license (at the time, no money in working locally on airplanes)
Three years managing a motorcycle repair shop
30 years working for a semiconductor manufacturer as a technician, draftsman, then equipment engineer
Spent the last 8 years as an equipment engineer, supporting the world-wide semiconductor market
Today was going to be my last day in the work force, but I volunteered to stay on another year until we can hire and train another engineer. That's been a struggle. I've recently begun to dabble in day trading. Time will tell...

Great thread, It is interesting to see what people do. I am a Real Estate Investor. I flip houses, I have rental units and a real estate brokerage as well. I own one of the “We Buy Ugly Houses” Franchises.
