What do you guys think of this look? one with side strato glass panel and one without. Kind of like what Riviera is doing with their Belize 54. 2 poles at the rear.

Did you piece it together or is this a package on Amazon? Can you provide a link to the Amazon product?

I shamelessly pulled this idea from another CSR poster but I don't recall who. Wish I could give proper credit.

Shade (size needs to match your beam, you want it to be tight):

Poles:

Then I used paracord with clips attached to secure the grommets in the corners to my bimini supports forward. I also have (not pictured) a section of paracord that pulls from the aft corners down to the cleats (keeps the wind from pulling the poles out).

You can see my cheapo cord in this pic. And yes, the poles do flex a bit. And yes, you should take this shade down before it storms. If not, be sure to have one spare set of poles onboard :)

One last shot. You can see how under-sophisticated my forward attachment method is here.

The base of the pole appears to widen significantly from the pole itself. Was there any issue or difficulty fitting the base of the poles into the rodholders?

Nope, they fit perfectly into standard rod holders. They also have a boot on the bottom that could be removed if the fit was too tight.

The one on our 55 came from sea ray, the canvas zips in where the canvas attached., poles angle to the stern of the boat. Wished I had a good pic, get one in spring!!

I did something similar on my 38 using Stamoid in a locking track for a clean look. I have sunbrella side and rear curtains which were removed in the pic.
