1992 Sea Ray 330 Sundancer Refit and Modernization

Thanks for the kind comments guys. Since this is my 1st time dealing with vinyl wrap, i'd be more inclined to watch videos than make them, but ill be sure to summarize what products I used and how I used them, as well as some "in hindsight" comments.

Anyhoo, The galley is just about done. I wrapped the base cabinet and the back trim piece. I bought a roll of automotive chrome trim to delineate the seam between the base side, and the what is now the countertop.

I have a new faucet to install and the sink base door.

The bleach/water mix is working out perfect removing any trace of stains. A few more times on the tough spots will do it.

Why are you not doing the floors in fake/wood?
I havnt bought the flooring yet, ive been tossing around product choices and pretty much decided on an engineered wood made for below grade. The wood on the flat areas, and carpet on the verticals. It comes pre finished in a satin cinnamon color to give some contrast to the cherry.

Ok, Im finally done with the bigger panels, I have the mirror doors in the shop and am wrapping them, and just a few trim pieces left and some drawer covers to reinstall.

Bath door done

dinette area cabinetry done except the tambour doors.

Ill wrap up the rest of the trim next week and start removing the tambours for prep and stain.

All the seating cushions are now removed and ready for disassembly and recovering.

I ordered the flooring, will be in in a few weeks.

As info, the tambour door material can be found unfinished and can be stained to match that vinyl. This looks really good! I just shared your pics with friends that have a 1990 350.

Also, I saw back a few posts about the diamond deals on the radar arch. Those are actually the "bolt head" portion of the bolts that hold the arch to the top half of the boat. I had a 91 270 with the same fasteners.

Ahh, i see, they are the bolt heads, thanks.

Excellent work.......really updating the 330.

Update:

Vinyl wrap is all done. Still have some cleaning of the hull liner in some areas.

The compound angled pieces a a bit of a pain, but the four way stretch material helps alot.

Its a textured material in cream, looks and feels like real leather.

Very impressive! There's hope yet for my old girl. I'm especially comforted by seeing how well the stains cleaned up with the bleach water mix. BTW, have you had any issues with the headliner pulling loose from above? I have a few spots on inside curves where it appears that the material shrunk and pulled away. The only thing I can think of, short of pulling it all off and starting over, is to inject some adhesive through the material with a syringe, and then trying to press the fabric back up. 'Not very confidence inspiring...

Are you able to sew that vinyl with a regular sewing machine or do you have a commercial class one? That looks so good that I may have a nice project for my wife to work on once I start the updates to our interior. She has several machines that are high end, but not commercial class.

Thanks guys, Sea Ray didnt sew the bolsters/head boards, they are folded and stapled like the factory. The seating is stitched, but I have an industrial walking foot sailrite clone with servo motor and monster wheel for the stitched cushions.

This is the seat cushion next to the berth, these are stitched.

another way is to use a button covered fabric screw and space them like they are there from the factory.

my headliner is intact, but i believe you would get glue bleed thru with that injection method.

Ive been marathoning through all the cushions for the vberth, dinette, and aft cabin. Almost done with that. Also started wrapping the carpet on the framing.

Gonna start installing the cushions to get an idea how it will all look.

Nice work Zool, my wife and I are in the process of doing the same work on our 96' 330DA. I was only going to vinyl wrap my cabinet doors and drawer faces but now I'm thinking of doing the cabinet frames as well. And you are right the carpet removal has been the biggest PIA so far. I'm heading to the boat today to finish removing the last of the (baby blue) carpet and yes Sea Ray installed the carpet first then the dinette cabinet bases PIA. Due to time and energy, we have decided to outsource the upholstery work. But we are doing the cabinets (wrap), vertical carpet, flooring, floating stairs, and accents lighting ourselves.

The wife is the designer and she's going for the "spa" feel in our new cabin. Ordered my flooring from Lowe's yesterday
SmartCore Ultra, waterproof vinyl, Model: LX42007248, Westgrove Walnut

What type, grade, length staples are you shooting in that air stapler? I would like to use stainless steel.

PS: I won't hijack your site with all my pic's and issues. I enjoy following your progress.

Nice Moon River, the transformation is rewarding. Also, the musty odors from 30 year old soft goods are all gone.

Im using 3/8 and 9/6 SS (depending on backer size) staples from sailrite, with a sailrite gun.

This makes me really want to tackle some of the interior issues on my 500. Getting rid of the fabric wrapped pieces in berth and other areas
