Thinking of making the move from a 2015 260DA to a SDX 270. All we really do is day boating on Lake Hopatcong in NJ. Kids are older now 19 and 27 so no need for a cabin for the kids to take a nap in any longer. We've had 3 Sundancers in a row (04 240da, 11 260da nd the 15 260da) now just looking for more room top side for Kids friends and ours.
Looking for input on people who did a similar move. Hoping I'll be happy with the SDX.
Thank you in advance for any input.

Sure, for day boating on an inland lake, especially a smaller one, that makes a lot of sense. Roughly the boat will about the same overall size, but you're going to just about double your seating area. One note... start the process now - many models are already sold out for the season.

We love ours. We live 1/2 a mile from the marina so its super convenient to jump on and take off for the day. We always sleep at the house anyways.

I went from a 29’ cruiser to a SLX270 then to the SDX270, so exactly what you are considering. Like you, kids got old enough that a cabin was not needed, but more day space was wanted. We keep it wet slipped all summer.
For the intended use, the SDX is a great choice over the cruiser. Easy seating for 10, have spent the day with 12 and did a cocktail cruise with 14. Abundant passenger space and gear storage. A day with 8-10 passengers is not cramped at all. My SDX is an outboard, but my friend purchased the same boat with the 350hp IO. Do not get the 300Hp IO, it is under powered. You will appreciate the roominess and storage the hull design provides.
The only downside, but one to consider, is going from a standup enclosed area and head to a sit down day head. Changing clothes is a chore in the SDX head for women. It is a decent size, but a huge down grade from a cruiser. It works for the intended purpose, but that’s about it. My wife and daughter miss the stand up head for sure.
If you have specific questions let me know.

Looking at a 350hp i/o. Mine will be wet slipped as well. I'm sure it will be much easier to back into the slip than the 260DA was. A little wind blew it all over the place when backing in. Thanks for the input.

After last dancer I swore next boat would be a hardtop, no canvas, rake the leaves out, walk around. Wife took one look at the head and cabin, oh hell no. Got another dancer.

I live by State Park and have a bowrider, we love the extra deck space for seating. My close friend has a 26' crownline cuddy. The head and when it rains are the two situations where I'm envious. We have adult kids so I wouldn't trade for those two things. We just go home if it starts to rain and there are plenty of restaurants to stop in if someone needs privacy

the 270 SDX has a nice size head, although not as big as the Sundancer, As far as the rain, very rarely got caught in it. Looking for more room in the cockpit.

Sounds like you have your answer, you convinced me. Let me know where I can see your new sdx, ice is a little thick now but today is supposed to be in the mid 40's so a step in the right direction

supposed to be delivered to Marinemax by the beginning of next month. I have a slip at Flash Marina in Jefferson. It will probably be in the water by the end of April if it warms up quick this year.

Awesome, I'm all the way on the other side of the lake, passed State Park in Landing around the block from Lake End Marina, I look forward to seeing it

the SDX 270 is a great boat you’ll love it. I have a 2021 SDX 270 at Prospect Point Marina Lake Hopatcong. Teal Color named “Yolo” see you around.

We also have a Lake Hopatcong Boaters group on Facebook.
