Looking at the Honda 2.3 hp and impressed with the 29lbs weight.
Wondering if I can store this in the trunk of a 340 da? Do I have to worry about laying it on it’s side?
I read something about the oil running into the heads or something.

I figure to pair it with a Saturn 290.

thanks,
Bill

The manual should tell you how to store it. My Suzuki 2.5 will store on its side and fits under one of the seats of my 390da.

If ur gonna order the CB290 and havnt yet, theres only 4 preorders left on boatstogo for the current ship load coming in in Feb. I ordered one yesterday when there was 5 left.

Theres a certain way to lay a Honda 4 stroke, supposedly they have supports on them to indicate this. Storing an outboard in general on it side is a bad idea, especially oil filled engines.

Have you thought about a portable electric outboard such as the Torqeedo? I have one of those and the battery lasts plenty long enough for little excursions or trips back and forth to the shore. Toss it in the mid-cabin, or wherever, when you're done. The whole thing weighs about the same as what you're looking for, but you can disconnect the battery which is about 1/3 of the total weight.

Four stroke outboards are designed to be stored and transported on one side - look at the manual or decals on the motor itself to learn which side.

I've had no issues doing this with my Mercury or Suzuki outboards. I lay an old towel down first to prevent the cowl from getting scratched.

yes, I was thinking about the Epropolsion, but it’s pricey and I was worried about battery time

I'd have to look at that one - I've never heard of that one before. My experience with portable electric OB's is limited to Torqeedo - but I do have quite a bit of experience with them. You could always get a second battery, as well. I don't know if it will/won't work for you as it all depends on how much you'd use it before you can recharge. But it's awful nice not to have to worry about gas and oil and there's no chance of anything (whether gas or oil) leaking out anywhere!
