Being winter and all and there being fewer boat topics popping up, I thought it would be interesting to see what some of you airplane guys were in to.
Here is my list although I sold the last one 5 years ago.
#1 Piper PA 18 150 Super Cub
#2 1962 Cessna 182
#3 1966 Mooney M20C
#4 1955 Beech 35F
#5 1985 Maule M5 180
I owned and operated a few FBOs/flight schools and owned upwards of 20 other aircraft for business purposes, but these listed, were my personal planes

This was my Maule just after a five-year restoration after a buddy flew it into guy wires on a radio tower and lived to talk about it. We spend so much time messing with the boat and not flying that I decided to sell it and see if I missed it enough to replace it. So far, I don't.

I fly first class….. I made a rule years ago if the plane doesn’t have first class or I can’t get in …I stay put. :)

Flew various pa-28s. Single engine land license.

Never owned (yet), but cleared to fly:
Cessna 150
Cessna 172 (of course)
Piper PA-28 Cherokee
Almost bought a Piper Arrow, but got a boat instead. 'Still wondering if that was the right thing to do.

I owned a H-35 Bonanza modified with fuel injection.
Have logged time in C-172RG, C-172, C152, C150, C140, Citabria, Cherokee 140/150, Archer, Beech-18.

Haven't flown PIC since I sold the Bonanza about 15 years ago.

My plan years ago was to buy a super cub with floats since we bought a house on a lake and could keep it at our home. After taking my wife for a few rides and watching her get close to throwing up each time, I bought a boat instead. It was either fly alone or boat with company. Boat won. I’m currently toying with the idea of renting an airplane, flying with a cfi and then eventually solo for fun.

Probably cheaper to boat. You are at the mercy of your a and p, routine maintenance and airworthiness directives costs during annuals. Boats are also more forgiving when it comes to deferring maintenance if you are so inclined. Personally, I do kind of miss flying.

I have flown just about everything Piper, Cessna, Beechcraft, ever made, Single and multi Engine.
I am tape rated in Kingair 350, Learjet 40/45 XR, falcon 20, citation XLS+, gulfstream G280.
Over 14,000 hours total time
Hopefully another 8 to 10 years of flying left
So, you do the jets for a living?

I have an inside in that I'm also an A&P, although not current. If I stay here after I retire (not likely), I'm already making plans to volunteer over at the Warhawk Museum. There's something very cool about the old warbirds!

Yes currently flying the XLS, and G280
I rode down to southern Indiana on a Citation for business. That was quite an experience. The acceleration on take off and rate of climb was dramatic compared to what I was used to flying Delta.

Not a pilot but have been in the manufacturing of Vans RV parts. Fiberglass parts. And I have worked with a few companies as a photographer. I have photos in the halls if NIFC-Boise as well as the head of the MAFFS program in DC. I have been published in a few prints. As for favorites, there is a few. Depends on the area. If I was really rich, I could have picked up a P2V-5 for free. But with the poor ol gal just sitting for years and never being properly pickled, she would need at least $280k to put airworthy. I was going to take her apart and bring her home. Wife asked if it had a good heater for winter time. That would be a cold bunk house.

I was pretty sure there would be more than a few of the members here that did both the boating and flying thing. I always had planes out of necessity for the business. I flew gliders initially in the family gliderport business and logged about 2500 rides and over four thousand hours towing. I stopped logging time years ago except what I needed for currency requirements as I knew I would never want to fly professionally outside of my own business. My wife had no interest in flying but really loves the boating so that is where we invest the family fun bucks. I enjoyed the flying I did but really don't miss it. I teach at and AMT program and do technical consulting on GA aircraft, so I still get my fill of airplanes just not flying them anymore.

I always had the dream of getting my private pilots license, but sadly never made the jump. Love reading about those of you that have done it.

I took off 67 times in a airplane before I ever landed in one. Landing was scary.
