So what does that do compared to having a typical Garmin or Raymarine unit?

it was a short lived pc based navigation system - IIRC there is still one guy that services them
Looks like the dead Sea Ray Navigator on our boat. Doesn't work, so no clue how its connected, what it does, or how it does it. I'm replacing with a 16" Furuno TZT3.

Vintage navigator... it was then and is now electronic waste.
Yea, but someone bought my SRN system for $700. That was 4 years ago but better than landfill.
In that case, anyone who wants ours can make me an offer.
