410 Sundancer/Express Cruiser and 400 Sundancer/Express Cruiser **Official Thread**

Actually, better staffing would be 2 hands and a well trained spider monkey. It is one of the most challenging jobs I've done on a Sea Ray. There is no good way to get wrenches to the fasteners holding the fold down step inside the side wall. I should emend my earlier post to include a medium sized box of Band-Aids.
Thanks, I guess repainting it all while it's out will justify the job. Looks like crap which is why I want it closed!

I just looked up stainless thru-hull replacements for the plastic fittings as I thought it would be a nice looking upgrade….$500 worth of fittings. I know it’ll look nice, but that’s a bit steep for cosmetics. Anyone else done it?

I had to replace one behind the fridge as the outside "mushroom" cracked off on the outside. It wasn't to difficult, I pulled it right into the boat, but it did take some elbow grease to get the sealant to scrape off..

I bought this for another project, but allegedly breaks the bond on 3M 5200. I have not used it yet.

If you do replace them, One of the items on my wish list it to replace the AC thru hulls with a dripless variety...

Have it sandblasted and powdercaoted. Much more permanent, and somebody else can do the prep and cleanup!

those are cool, removes the need for dripper guards

What was the process to remove, prep and install the new one? What worked and didn’t work? Thank you!
Every time I had access to an area, replaced fridge, removed engine, etc. I replaced what I could get to. I had zero trouble taking the backing nut off and popping out the old one. Your mileage may vary. Definitely worth trying. Mine were getting showing age and made the boat look cheap.

Cocktail Time - Outsource this job immediately! :)

Wow, I am surprised Frank. With that kind of access I would have expected it to be a 2 advil job at most. I guess all the hardware is on the inside, so its a two hand job with room for one.

and, Sea Ray only has 2 sku's of bolts….long and short. On the long ones, if they are too long, the guy installing them just breaks the end off. That makes removing them very slow since you can only turn a wrench behind that sidewall about 1/16th of a turn.

Well like most boat builders, they didn’t allot much effort to making it easy for us to take the boat apart.

I had to have my step rebuilt last winter on my 400DA. It was not hard to take out at all. I removed the entire setup from the boat to do the work. You need to remove the trim piece that goes around the step when closed first (the screws come in from the back, you can get to them with the step down) and then the entire setup comes out pretty easy and is easy to work on.

I just finished installing my Flexdek that I bought from snapincarpet.com. I worked with them to make a template to go around my davit system and it came out absolutely perfect.

They are now also making these self adhesive non skid pieces that you can stick wherever you like. They are calling it Gunnel Guard and you can send them artwork or any boat name that you would like to have printed on them.

That looks fantastic. Nicely done!

Anyone know the largest grill that we can stow in the lazarette? I have a magma chefsmate but we need a bigger grill so I’d like to get the Catalina 2. It’s significantly taller but I don’t think that’s a problem back there, the width and depth are similar between the two

edit: after looking at the dimensions I think any of them will fit. Seems their depth is all 14” they just get longer. The Monterey II is the largest but still a 14” depth

For what its worth, I have a Weber Q1200 and its just about as big as I'd want to put back there.

oh wow that’s a big one, this should be fine then. It’s weird I’m a Weber snob at home and it’s the only thing I’ll buy but I’ve become attached to magma for the boat. Our low end chefsmate has lasted 10 years and realistically just needs a burner to go longer but it’s too small

I love the little Weber Q. It put out some serious heat and just does a great job. Getting it attached to the boat is a PITA, but it does a great job just like its big brothers. Unfortunately who ever was making the Grill-A-Mount isn't in business any more last time I looked.

Well it's been a quick two months since my boat went into storage. I'm about to turn the corner on "I'm ready to put her away for the winter" to "I'm losing time here, better get started on projects, spring is coming fast".

I just received 3 new Rule bilge pumps from the UPS guy today. I replaced all of my float switches last year. Going to do the pumps this year.

I also so a cool thread around here on an "arid bilge" system. I have the parts in my cart on Amazon, super cheap. I may do that one this winter too.

Good times...

Looks very nice, good job.
Always nice to have the boat name on other things/areas of the vessel
