Should you buy a gun or not?

No thin skin here keyboard warrior. I simply don't like it when a balloon knot such as yourself makes a claim that I'm a faux Patriot or that what I say and do is for theater. For that comment you can go find another corner of the internet and jamb your attempts at humor right up your backside.

I sincerely apologize if I offended you. Period.

I was not attacking you. I was stating my preference for quality over origin.

It didn't appear that way, but I'm not above accepting an apology. Done and moving on.

My wife carries a sig P238 in .380 and loves it. What ever you do stay away from the SW bodyguard. I bought that for her first, and it has a terrible long trigger pull, I hate that gun. I still have it if anyone is interested.

I carry a .380 Bodyguard everyday and love it. The long trigger pull is part of a DAO pistol as you know, but was far better in smoothness and pressure as many others.

I did experience the common problem of mags dropping out, but a $22 part from Galloway Precision solved that.

They make a trigger kit too, so "while I was in there" I did that too and it's awesome.

Check it out. It was a fun and easy mod that made a good, if troubled gun into an ace.

A bit off topic from your post, but the .380 reference made me think of this...

I have heard so many arguments around .380 is too weak......45 is the only way...9mm this...40 that.

My view has always been, find something you are comfortable with....which means you are more likely to practice with it and be proficient. If that means you have a .22 and can shoot it real well....so be it.

If you shoot at me with a .22...I am going to take cover just as much as if it were a .45 or any other round.

If it is more comfortable then you are more likely to carry it. A .380/9mm short is plenty unless you are shooting a hard target. I wouldn’t carry it into the Klondike to shoot a vicious bear but it is plenty of gun for the east coast animals.

Agreed. The right ammo makes it more than adequate and the size and weight can't be beat.

If its uncomfortable I'm less likely to carry it.

I love my Taurus model 738 TCP .380 I added grip extenders to the magazine and it fits my hand fine. Way more accurate than my snub nose .38’s.

Military joke here. I did not serve but have many family members that have and currently support the VA on a federal contract and it was an Army guy that had this sign so don't pick on me for it...lol
Army guy in my office had a sign that read 'Army, cause Marines need heroes too'...lol

Daughter just sold her model 43Glock and a sub-compact Ruger (forget the model) and bought a new XDS. She went to the range the other day and shot her brothers XDS and really liked it so bought one.

Brave comment to mention the lowly .22. That's what I'd be grabbing if someone was kicking at the door because it's normally the only gun ready in the house.

The Marin

Thanks for what sounds like an honest question.

The Marines are technically a Department of the Navy. Not a separate branch of the military.

There has been a long longstanding joke by other branches to harass Marines by saying "they are just a department of the Navy". To which the common response is/was...Yeah, the men's department.

Anyone who is in the military would know clearly Marines are not someone you would seriously pick a fight with or harass outside of humor.

Clearly if you are not in/from the military and are accustomed to

If ur 22 is like a mark II u be fine with it. 15 rounds alot for a man to stomach.

Not if they have armor. I can drive tacks with my buck mark or a HS supermatic citation. Go for the throat.

A word of advice I was given early on in my career...you never want to score a perfect score. I'm pretty accurate but don't think I could ever get a perfect score without some luck but there was a guy in one of my classes that had a perfect score going then threw his last shot off the paper on purpose. Perfect scores are pretty hard and rare. Our shoots were timed and had to start holstered and hands in a field interview stance so you had to be proficient with your holster. A few sections of the course required emptying a mag then reloading and emptying the 2nd mag. I think that was 20 rounds in 15 seconds including the reload. We also had to do a 25 yard shoot with a tactical reload. Tactical reload was fire I think 2 rounds then reload from cover then fire 5 or 10 more, can't remember. The idea of a tactical reload is to reload a partial magazine when the situation allows but you don't drop the partial mag. Had to stow the partial mag in or belt somewhere. It was fun but was pretty stressful.

I was a reserve officer for several years in the late 80’s and early 90’s, my carry weapon was a smith and Wesson 686 357 revolver. Qualifying using speed loaders was a pain in the ass. I switched to a S&W 40-06 after a year or so. Still have my 686 tho

I thinking head or crotch shot. Sorry I didn't realize thieves had started wearing armor.
If thats the case u best get out a AR15 5.56 cal.

After all the comments about bad guys wearing body armor let me suggest this--If a guy goes to the trouble of obtaining and wearing body armor he is much more than the neighborhood kid with a gun. He's a professional and, as such, is not going to be knocking on your door.

A professional is more likely to be taking down a bank, Walmart, CVS, Kroger Grocery store, etc. He and I both know you don't have enough valuable chit in your home to make it pass the risk/reward test. It just ain't worth it.
