460 DA Owners Thread

Bought it, connected it up and it worked for all of one second and blew main (50amp) fuse. Put new fuse in and poof , same thing. These main fuses are incredibly expensive —- suggestions on what to do now?

Wow, you are going over my limited skill/experience set... But if your blowing the 50 amp like that I would start looking at all your wires for a short (grounding) and as I was typing this I thought of diving the boat and looking into your tunnel for any kind of obstruction ?

Good news, it made me check my fuse and it's 425amp.

i also had to replace the joystick too so controller was shot. I wished they made it easier to get to that fuse.

I did this conversion last year in my 2001 460 sundancer. It was not easy but it is doable. I would recommend getting getting longer studs about a inch. I had to notch one of the frames which I re-glassed to make the motor fit. It worked perfectly.

Thanks for the insight. How did you get longer studs? Use an extension? It seems the studs are fixed, so would need to add an adapter?

When you say notched the frame, do you mean the bulkheads under the deck? Any pictures you may have ? That would be super helpful.

The studs unscrew from the unit. You use two nuts tighten together on the stud to remove and replace. Take the stud to automotive parts to get a longer one's. I do not have any pics, sorry I recently sold the boat. I did this project last year.

Hi all! We are anxiously awaiting our new hydraulic swim platform. Do you think there's a market for the old/original one?
Just wondering, and if not, disposing of it...

Thanks!

I think Mark diagnosed this properly. I still have my intake heaters but they don't cycle as much ever since I added Wolverine pan heaters.

Which model did you end up getting and how difficult to install?

What model wolverine did you use? Easy install?

Mine are model #25 - 250 watts
Install was easy on our boat but will depend on access to the underside of the motor below the oil pan. We don’t have v-drives so no prop shaft under there.
I added a separate breaker at the 120 ac panel and have a dedicated gfci outlet in the er for them, but I wanted that anyway.

Hey guys. Friends have a 2004 460 DA that they are in the process of selling. They are way out of town, so I've done cursory showings a couple of times. For the life of me I can't figure out what's the deal with the electric sofas. I know there is a breaker for the sofa controller on the 12V panel. I know there is a 2 gang switch under the power panel cabinet that runs the up down, in and out for the sofa.
I swear the last time I messed with it, the mid cabin sofa was opening and closing. Today, the Salon sofa was opening and closing. Does this system use the same switch set, and there is some "selector" to switch between the 2 sofas, or am I nuts?

Sofa reply: Our mid cabin sofa is manual. The switch under the power panel works the salon sofa.

On my 05 there was no release. Just pull the bottom forward, lay the back down and use the filler piece to finish the bed.

I think they all have power. Switch is in the locker facing aft on the port side when your sitting on the midcabin sofa facing forward

Thank you --- totally appreciate it!

Tim,

I can't find my notes from my 410, (3126's), but I either installed 250w or 500w Wolverines...

Got it. I bought the 250w after doing a lot of research. Appreciate the assist! Hope all is well. Sad day... winterized the beast this past weekend. Can't wait for February to wake her back up :)

Tim - I kept them plugged in over the winter, and they kept the 7 gallons of oil in each engine at about 90°F - my bilge heater never even came on!!

Great, thank you for that feedback! Mine should arrive soon. She's full of antifreeze now and I have two bilge heaters in the ER just to make sure.
