First year of ownership. Looking for advice replacing my Starboard tach which has failed. Is it just a matter of taking the screws out of the instrument dash and pulling out the board to access the bracket? Anything else to consider while doing this job? Thanks!

Very simple job if you can find the correct replacement Tach.
Before you buy/change it though, try this little trick...
Unscrew dash and tilt forward so you can access back side of Tach. Note the position of a small screw on the back, it should have the numbers 4,6,8 adjacent to it. Using a very small screwdriver, rotate that screw back and forth a few times and put it back to it's original position.
Often times, the Tach has not actually failed, but oxidation on that rheostat prevents it from displaying properly. Rotating the screw can scrape off some of the oxidation.

Best of luck.

Thanks for that tip...will give it a try!

You might want to check one more thing before you change tach. It might be hard to get your hour meter to the same hour after the change.
I think you may have to get it from a searay dealer to keep the same hours

Update: I tried moving the slotted screw back and forth with no success. I went ahead and replaced the tach with a new one. The hours meter comes up on the new tach(0.0) but the needle on the gauge is parked at zero with engine at idle. I'm 99% sure I hooked it up right but with 15 wire inputs that go into the gauge it might take a while to diagnose! Anyone have a guess? Sending from engine problem or maybe a sync unit?
