Any recommendations on a good depth finder to purchase for my Sea Ray?

Without knowing your intended use or conditions, it will be impossible to provide meaningful advice. You need to decide what you will be using the boat for and the conditions under which you will be using it.
some factors that would influence the decision would include.
- average depth where you will be boating.
- does your environment include shoaling or shallow areas which must be avoided?
- Your budget
- Do you intend to fish? drifting?, trolling?

The average depth where we boat is about 50’-100’. No fishing, just tubing and fun. My boat currently has a large external display that I’m looking to get rid of and change to a in the hull or through the hull transducer. Budget is $500 or less but can change if needed.
The next question is on what will you display the depth? That external display you are getting rid of is likely your depth sounder as well. A transducer is just the sensor part. You still need a sounder. If you are only interested in depth, you can get by on the cheap with something like this. I assume your boat has an outdrive, in which case a simple transom mount transducer will probably suffice.

Looks like you have a 215 EC 1999 year according to your profile information.
Do you plan to do the installation? Is there currently a thru Hull transducer or a transom mount transducer?
Are you comfortable drilling a hole in your boat if you are installing this?

I do have a 215 EC and do an on doing the installation. I do not have a problem drilling a hole, I just need to make sure I am getting the right one and to make sure I’m not missing something. I’m not concerned with much of a display other than seeing the depth where I am.
