On the 300DA the canvas snaps to a flat spot on the top of the sides. There is a transition just behind the helm where the canvas goes from the sides to the top then back to the sides.

Is there a better way to attach it other than the snaps? The fabric just keeps pulling loose from the snaps and flaps in the wind. And when going down the road, it will open up the whole side panel.

Don't mind that moss growing there. That is what happens in Western Oregon if anything sits for a couple weeks. And will be washed off when we get more than a minute of no rain.

I will see if I can get the LOXX fasteners. Might see if I can find them from another source. At $27 for 5, I dont want to have to buy more than really needed. I really didn't want the twist to lock. They just look bad, to me.

I second the flex rail and keder welt but it can be tricky to retrofit on existing canvas. When you have a new enclosure built someday it would be easier to incorporate into the design.

Maybe something as simple as new studs and snaps.

The studs do wear over time and the snap socket springs wear too. If you go this route they make hard action sockets that give a little more resistance.

Personally I don't like lift-a-dot studs or twist lock studs as you will probably catch yourself on them like little spears sticking out.

I had a similar issue with the back of my camper canvas pulling the snaps in the wind, and the loose snap beating my gel coat.

I replaced with Loxx from Sailrite and I can tell you they are worth the money in places that regular snaps pull. I wouldn't put them everywhere, especially if a regular snap is working.

A plus is they are easier for the wife to pull as opposed to snaps.

Sew a short piece of nylon strapping where they come loose and install the snap in the strap. It will give you a little more tolerance.

I did replace the stud parts. They sort of held better. But not having the original ones, it's a crap shoot getting the new stuff to work.

I have replaced snaps on the fabric in the past and had the fabric not last long after. So, to be honest, I'm a little gun shy.

I plan on any replacement top we get, it will be attaching to the arch front and back. And raising the front at the windshield too. I would love not having to buff my bald head just walking around in the cockpit.
