Lazy Daze, Sea Ray and Peters Marine

The process is longer than I would have expected. But at this point, there are interested parties in buying the place. Nothing is signed on the line, yet, but things are moving forward in a positive way.

Jim, Peters Marine is in Allentown, PA. Believe it or not, it's the second oldest SR dealership in the world!
I cannot believe that fox chapel didn't dance. But a year or so to get a date is natural in my experience.

Could be there is not a lot of confidence in the future boat market.

The business I'm in also operates under a dealership model, with my company being the manufacturer that authorizes dealers. Dealer agreements can be very specific about terms, ownership, and what happens when the ownership changes. I would not be at all surprised if the new owners have to get a blessing to from Sea Ray to continue the dealership.

Good news! Or maybe bad... :) I have entered into an agreement to buy Peters Marine along with an investor as an even-up co-ownership. I'll finally get to use that hoist anytime I want! We still need to finish up the loan process, but there doesn't appear to be any major hurdles there.

You are welcome for the advice. See post #2. I love spending other people’s money.

Wonderful! It’ll be great LD. I’m not familiar with Peter’s Marine but if you have an online store, I’d be happy to order parts when needed to support the business. You’ve supported us on CSR, it’s the least I could do.

Good you and your local boating community!

It’s the best land locked Searay dealer I have ever been a customer of….. second would be Boatland in Indy when it was a sea ray dealer.

One time Peters sold me an over size trailer for my 260 Sundancer for a really good price…. Then I got transferred to Indy and stored at Boatland for the winter… when Gary the owner of Boatland saw the trailer he came out and said to me he wants my trailer. That winter I sold the boat without the trailer …. Gary bought the trailer for a $1k more then I paid for it from Peters. Everyone is alway happy when you’re dealing with good people

Thats wonderful news Dennis. I wish all the success in the world. I know you will do a great job.

This is really great news. Now you get to work incessantly until you become one with your dealership. I hope you had your vacation because Maine will seem a distant memory. I don’t envy you. I wish you great success and happiness.

Dennis, this is the best news I've heard in a while - congratulations! We spoke at Peters one morning about a week ago when I picked up my '06 220SD after winterization. You helped me hook up and we discussed a pending acquisition. I wondered if you might be a part of it! Glad to hear that I will still have a SR dealer nearby and that a very knowledgeable boat guy will be in charge there!

Dennis that is awesome news! There is nothing like being in your own business. Is it a scary proposition? Of course it is...but with the years of experience that you have in the industry and the fine reputation of Peters Marine, there is little doubt the you will come to realize that this was the best decision you've ever made.
