I saw that stuff inside once in an airsep somewhere. Reminded me of a loose scotch brite pad like material.

I run an iPad I got for $99 as my primary navigation tool….
Man that's a lot of sheckles!! I saw an article about Tony at SBMAR developing his own. Anyone using them?
Has anyone replaced the Walker Airsep with Seaboard Marines Enviro vent?
Ha! Actually that has never happened to me. It’s always stayed on. Might be because I am on a bridge boat and it’s most always shaded by the Bimini.Sorry, Bill. But I have to post this whenever someone promotes using a tablet as a primary navigation tool. Being in the sunny south, I suspect you've seen this a time or two!

Full disclosure: That picture was taken when I had my Sundancer. I used the iPad as a backup to the RL0C on my 400DB before adding an Axiom. And no, it never happened to me on the bridge. I just couldn't pass up the chance to poke the bear!
And I hope I didn't derail this thread too much. I'm actually intrigued by this foam issue. I had no idea there was foam in there (so I've obviously no clue what shape mine are in!). i'll put it on the spring To Do list. That's when I'll be cleaning the airseps. Still, I might peer in them when I winterize...
There is no way to clean walker airseps. I tied once and the foam disintegrated even more. Whatever you read about cleaning does not work.
See under “Filters” here. Means your big filter is restricting air flow. Guess a pressure differential causes the red flag to go up.Hello all, revisiting the walker air sep topic, specifically the silencer/metal canister. I spoke to a rep at walker and he told me the canister portion of the set up was good for about 3000 hours. I explained to him how the silencer material in the end of the canister was deteriorating and he suggested just removing it. I took his advise and it's really nothing more than a heavy duty foam pad glued in to the canister. I was able to peel it out and sand papered away any remaining glue. If it's nothing more than a silencer pad, then other than "noise" how bad can it be. So two questions, has anyone else done the same, and can anyone explain to me how to read that little plunger valve with the red disk on the canister. What is its purpose? Thanks!
The foam? I’ll do it if mine starts crumbling off. Thanks for the gauge answer. Anyone with thoughts about running without that silencer installed on the manifold?
Nice job - they look brand new!I refurbished mine this past week. The foam silencer looked good, but as soon as I touched it, it rubbed off. Therefore, I removed it as you did. I don’t see how it would be for anything other than sound deadening. The paint on the airseps was starting to flake off as well, so I spent some time removing as needed. I’m not expecting to hear a difference without the foam.
