Climate czar Lurch......ah I mean John Kerry said that coal fired power plants will not exist in the US by 2030 and all power generation will be carbon free by 2035. Huh. I wonder if the progressives have actually sat down and put a plan together, other than just parroting "wind and solar", to achieve this "goal". Does logic ever enter their considerations or do they just fire up another blunt and wish?

Someone forgot to tell him that Natural Gas is also a carbon-based fuel.

Only way possible is nuclear. Now watch their heads explode.

Right now they are developing "microreactors" to act as modular power plants that can be manufactured in one factory and shipped for assembly much faster and cheaper than current facilities. I'm currently working on a facility that will be processing/manufacturing the nuclear fuel for those reactors. Next decade should be interesting.

Being ignorant of reality makes it a lot easier to make such statements. Add to that you want to redistribute wealth in the US and Climate Whatever gives you the perfect cover.
What concerns me is the state of mind of those that blindly eat that stuff up. Yes, I'm to the right of center, but I don't trust anything I see from either side until research shows differently. I wish some of my relatives would be a bit more open-minded and do the same.

Sounds ambitious for 14 years, but hell, the smart phone didn’t exist 14 years ago. So who knows where technology will take us by then.

At least the cost of renewable energy has come down drastically in recent years with solar and wind at utility scale now being much lower cost than when our Ontario Liberal government signed us up for fixed price solar at CAD$0.84/KwH and wind at CAD$0.43 to "incentivize" a green industry before the technology made sense economically.

The US has like 75% fossil fuel generation today. That's a lot of alternative energy to come up with.

I guess a silver lining is that if you take away the market for all of that oil, maybe boat fuel prices will be lower (excluding the carbon sin taxes of course)

I believe I read a story that between wind and solar we would have to dedicate land the equivalent of the entire area of the upper midwest to come close to generating the amount of power need. Not to mention we have no clean way to dispose of solar panels, Lithium ion batteries will quickly overload landfills. And the are struggling with how to dispose of windmill blades. This will be and environmental disaster all with the stated purpose of saving the environment. Insane.

There was a big push locally for land owners to sign up for solar gardens. The land owner right next to us used to do grass seed and is now leased out to Christmas trees. When he checked on the money he would get per acre, he just gut laughed. Trees pays just over $3800 per acre per month. Solar they were only willing to pay out $5000 per month for the 50 acre lot. Plus he would be responsible for all the water run off. And he would have to maintain the weeds and drive areas around all the panels. 50 acres of 9" deep gravel is pretty spendy here. And at 70 years young, he isn't about to get out and deal with the weeds. I for one am happy there was no money in it. The heat from the panels would have killed everything around this place. All the summer heat blows this way.

The goal of the greenies is to eliminate carbon fuels. Petaluma CA just banned all new gas stations. These folks will be going after marinas in the future. Germany is really into this movement. Porsche has announced its intention to stop building gasoline and diesel fueled cars in the not too distant future. I plan on buying my last gasoline powered flat six Boxter next year if I can get an allocation.

Those prices are ridiculous when we pay .13 (US) per KWh today. Why are these self proclaimed saviors so stupid? It is an honest question.

been buying/selling coal for 3 1/2 decades. domestic and some export. no doubt its on deaths bed, however electricity only travels so far. on top of that they are going to have to have alot better storage for it.
currently the coal mrkt is hot, maybe last for about a year. digger in east ky. only a handful left.

Good point!! When our provincial government incentivized startup businesses for “green energy”, huge acreages of bush and wood lots were clear cut for solar farms…like the Amazon rain forest, loss of biodiversity in the name of going green doesn’t make sense to me.

Biden's nominee for comptroller of the treasury, some foreign born broad, Saule Omarova, made a slip and admitted on the record that the goal of the Biden administration is to bankrupt the major energy corporations to some how force the US to adopt green renewable energy. She actually said that bankrupting them is the only path forward. That's fine by me once a viable option available to the masses exists. I have yet to hear a credible time line that fossil fuels can be replaced with the so-called green energy fuels. Mean while the CHICOMMs are building and brining new coal powered plants online at a rate of one per week and we are shipping our coal to them right here from the port of Stockton, 45 miles up river from me. Lets see, mine the coal in Colorado, ship by train to Stockton by diesel/electric locomotive, Load onto a Ship burning lord knows what for a two week voyage to China and then move by train to the interior of China another 1000 or so mile then burn in the cheapest possible coal fired plant. Love to see Al Gore calculate the carbon foot print and send Xi a bill for the offset credits.
The rest of the developing world have to be just laughing their asses off at the US as we cripple ourselves in the name of saving the planet while they are shifting in to high gear not giving two shits about global warming. May GOD Bless the crimson wave and hope there is time to reverse coarse before all is lost.

U need to remember mr gore flying a big private jet, it’s all smoke and mirrors in my opinion.

One thing I will add. AEP is investing Jesus money on the transmission side of things. Not near so much on generation side. No idea what anyone else thinks but I am puzzled by this!
