Yesterday, we took the kids and gkids for their first short cruise. As typical, I asked Rope Girl if the blowers could be felt in the side vents. The SILaw said no on the port side, so I presumed he may have not checked thoroughly, perhaps not knowing where to check. The stbd was venting OK, so I ran them a bit longer than normal.
Returning from the cruise, I turned them on and could not detect any venting.

Where should I start to determine the problem? Is there a separate breaker for the port fan?
Thanks all!

Isn't one a puller and the other a pusher fan?

Both fans should be pulling from the engine area and push it through the vents. (At least that's how it worked on mine.) You should be able to feel air flow from both sides. I would even deflect the air up to my face to smell for gasoline after fueling (just in case).
I don't believe they are on separate breakers, so your fan may just be done.

We have 2 and they have independent breakers on the engine room EIM. I have had the same issue, but only when i run them for extended periods of time. (Hours) I replaced them both and problem stopped. If they keep blowing the breaker(s), they are pulling too many amps (most likely) in order to run which is causing the circuit to get hot, overload and shut down. If you do not know how old they are, I would replace at least 1 and see if the problem resolves on that one. If so, replace them both.
So far as pushing and pulling air. Never knew that, so went down and tested mine and they both pull. Makes sense as fuel fumes are 3-4 times heavier than air and lay in the bottom of the bilge, so the fans pull the air down there out to evacuate the BAD air.
Whatever you do, fix / replace as this is a safety item and needs to function properly. I also have installed a fume detector in all of the boats I have ever owned. Doesn't stop me from properly venting the bilge b4 starting up, but is an added safety device that gives another level of protection.

Why not just go down in the engine room and look and listen? They're both either on and spinning (and making fan noise) or they're not. If they are both running then follow the runs to be sure they are both in place at the engine room vents. They are just lightweight plastic and can easily dislodge from the bracket that holds them in place. If one is not running then check the 12 volt power to the non running side to be sure power is getting there. If it is replace that blower fan. Not expensive and easy to do this. Let us know...

THANK YOU TEAM, I SEE MY MISSION AND WILL REPORT RESULTS! bw

Reporting resolution! Each fan has it's own breaker, and the PT had been tripped. Re-set it, ran for 15 minutes, so hopeful for the near future. I will however review my repair records to see if either had been serviced / replaced in the past.

For the record...you should call the "Rope Girl" a "Line Girl" in order to avoid offending the boating purists around you :):)

I spent 20+ years in the U.S. Navy, I call the stringy tying up thingies all kinds of different names to confuse some of those purists. It was even more evident (and more funny) when I lived on a 30' Catalina while still on active duty. The sailboaters are even more tight about when a rope becomes a line, etc, etc!

When does a line become a hawser? Is a hawser also a line? (No need to answer, it doesn't really matter! Just an example.) Don't forget "cable" in can be a line or a measure of distance....
