Can I use this type of sender in my diesel tanks. Do I need to change the searay gauges or can I use the same gauges?
Aoditeck sending unit 24”

I had to replqce the senders in my 450DA about 10 years ago.First ones were sonic type (whatever t hat means) that Sea Ray replaced under warranty in 1997. The replacemewntr came from Florida MArine Tanks, the folks who built the fuel tanks. They were a trailing arm type sender and they lasted about 4 seasons before failing….the floats stuck at about 1/2 travel. We complained to Florida Marine Tanks and they replaced them with ones that looked like twins to the ones in your photo.

Those lasted about 15 years and still work as they should. I cannot answer your question as to the compatibility with the gauges which is why we ordered the replacements thru our dealer from Forida Marione Tanks.

The new senders I put in also came from Florida tanks. Same trailing arm set up.
When the gauge reads 1/2 tank I only take 60 gallons. Should be 90 gallons.
Any chance you know the model info
Did you get new gauges from Florida tanks also?

They know the tank design on the boats they built the fuel tanks for. We just ordered senders for the tanks on a 1996 450DA. They immediately knew the depth and capacity of the tanks. The folks who bought my boat have the maintenance records so I can't help with a part number.

I had tested the senders and knew that was my problem, so I never considered changing the gauges.

The most important part is to get a sender that is compatible with your gauges.
240-33 ohms is the US standard. Euro is 0-to something, I forget.
My experience, is that the sender is nearly always the culprit unless the gauge has taken on water or condensation.
The senders you pictured are the "right thing", however you will have to see whether you can get them into to the tank based on surrounding clearances. My Stbd tank is a no brainer. My Port tank needs a hole cut in the deck. You will also want to get the "Focus Tubes", which keep the gauge from swinging wildly when underway.

Thanks. Already cut the hole last year.

What’s a focus tube?

What’s a focus tube?
Sorry, I was getting my stories mixed up. The NMEA version of this is ultrasonic and needs a surrounding tube to "calm the seas" when running. These are hall effect sensors, and simply ride the tide in your tank. Disregard my fau pax.

If it helps, I emailed Florida Marine Tanks my hull id number and they sent me to blue prints with dimensions for my two tanks. On mine the depth is 26".

I installed these on my 400DA and worked fine with the SR gages. I would ask the sender mfg. Best thing about the ultrasonic was the improved accuracy. Empty is much closer to empty where the arm type was 1/3 full at empty.
