Can anyone with QSC 600s tell me what your water temps are at slow speeds? I am seeing a big difference between my two motors at or slightly above idle after my motors are warmed up. My port engine runs at 156 degrees while my starboard is at 117 degrees. My boat is new to me and I will admit to only really paying attention and recording all my operating numbers while on plane at cruise speed. I just noticed the difference and I am not sure what should be normal for this motor and my boat.

I have plenty of water flow, my antifreeze levels are good, and my numbers at steady at 176-178 at cruise. I am assuming this could be a t'stat but would like to know what is normal.

Thanks

Mike

So those are the temps after you have run at cruise and temps have been up to 175+?

If so yes I suspect the one that runs at 117 has a thermostat that is stuck open, and it should be replaced as 117 is way too cold to run a diesel at for any length of time.

Yes, after cruise or a long run at no wake speed, starboard motor stays much colder than port motor. I didn't want to make any assumptions here and was kicking myself for not noting what the temps are at idle. Thanks

You will probably also see that the cool engine also takes longer to come up to temp.

I had originally thought I had the same issue a couple of weeks ago, but my issue was I idle through no wake zones only on one engine, as both is too fast. The loaded engine comes up to temp from cold much faster, so now I alternate once the loaded one hits 125-130.

My QSC 8.3 600 runs about 172 at cruise, and more like 160ish during a longer no wake section at idle speed. Agree that 117 is way low. I would also start with the thermostat being stuck open.

Before taking things apart, maybe get an infrared therm and check temps around the engine. Might help with what needs to be changed.

Thanks to all for your input!

Mike
